Describe the dorms.

Tyler

The dorms at USD are some of the best you can find. Most freshman have normal style dorms, with community bathrooms and just a room. But if you decide to stay on campus after your freshman year, you are guaranteed a kitchen with a mircrowave, fridge, stove and oven. The rooms also have a common area with a great couch if you decide to stay after your freshman year. And if you decide to stay in the valley, it is like living in a little village within campus. Overall campus living at USD is wonderful!

The dorms at USD are FAR BETTER than any other dorms I have ever seen, and believe me, I've seen a lot. As a freshmen, you have four different living quarters to choose from: Maher building is situated above classrooms and it's co-ed. There are 2-4 people per room with a large closet and private bathroom. This is more of the "roll out of bed and go to class" mentality. Founders Hall is for all women and Camino Hall is only for men. These are the same type of buildings as Maher. In the valley, there are two types of housing for freshmen as well: Missions A and Missions B. Missions B is dorm-style living, where two people share a room and the whole hall shares a communal bathroom at the end. Missions A is suite-style - two people share a room, and there are four rooms per apartment that share two bathrooms and a common living area. This is a more private feel. And it's where I lived :) Finally, if you're an honors student or something of that nature, you have the option to live in another building with rooms that include your own kitchen. As a sophomore, most people live in the Vistas. These are BEAUTIFUL apartments that are shared by four people. Two bathrooms, one living room and a kitchen. Superb. The buildings look like castles. As a junior and senior, you can either live in San Buenaventura or Manchester. These have single rooms with double-beds!! They're newly updated and modern. So much space!! Most upper-classmen, however, live off campus in Mission Beach. This is the "place to be" because it's all college students and it boasts a couple of really fun bars. Most of the weekend action is down at the beach.
