University of San Diego Top Questions

Describe the students at your school.

Jannessa

My classmates are pretty intelligent people.

Jennifer

It's kind of a mix of every type of student you could imagine, and everybody has their own way of studying, paying attention in lecture, and spending and balancing their free time; be prepared for a lot of diversity at UCSD.

Megan

My classmates were interested in their studies and overall friendly, but came from very wealthy areas and families and were accustomed to obtaining the things that they wanted with little effort and were also very superficial.

Abigail

I am incredibly blessed to go to a Jesuit high school because of the incredible community. At my school we have the oppurtunity to challenge one another in all aspects. The school is very competitive in both academics and athletics. Each and every one of my classmates strives for excellence. When given the chance to attend weekly mass students come together and become closer to one another and God. My classmates are all loving and caring people who want nothing more than to help those around them.

Taylor

The students at USD are certainly not all the same. Though, most of them are very handsome. A lot of girls dress up for classes but you also see a lot of people in workout clothes (perfect for early morning class!). A good majority of students are Catholic and attend mass in Founders Chapel but they do not flaunt their religion. There are also a fair share of gay boys who attend. I believe a goth-emo student would feel entirely out of place. Also, most people, but certainly not all, come from upper-middle class homes.

Gabrielle

The students at USD are very well put together and attractive. Most girls dress in cute outfits everywhere they go, however, there are always the people who want to be comfortable in sweats. The financial backgrounds are varied, some are extremely wealthy and others depend completely on financial aid. A great thing about USD students are that they come from all over the world! In one class I have met peers from Greece, Ethiopia, and Italy! Since it is a Catholic school, you would expect a lot of Catholic students, however, USD has a variety of different religions and political views. All different types of students interact with one another, although the sports guys usually stick together. USD is a great place to go out of your comfort zone and meet many new people with awesome backgrounds and stories.

Tyler

The University of San Diego has a superficial stereotype of rich, spoiled children. But really the school is very diverse, and is getting more diverse as the school's reputation becomes increasingly better. The rich stereotype is normally only true about Greek Life at the school. But everybody is very diverse. The students wear all sorts of things to class, so wearing anything would be considered ok. A lot of the students are politically aware of the political current events at the school, but a lot also are not. Different types of students tend not to interact because everyone has the clicks they find and stay with all the time.

Harmonie

Students on the USD campus are some of the friendliest I've met. If you sneeze while walking to class, there is no doubt that the stranger across the fountain will take the time to say "Bless you!" I would find it hard to believe if there was a student who felt out of place on this campus. There are countless racial, religious, and political organizations on campus that cater to the diversity. Because the weather is beautiful year-round, it isn't uncommon to see girls in tank tops and shorts over their bathing suits, ready to hit the beach. About half of the students here are from California, but there is a great number of out of state students as well. Although there are many wealthy students, the university does a great job of offering financial aid and scholarships to equally qualified students with varying academic interests.

Laura

My classmates at the University of San Diego are diverse, friendly, and accepting of one another.

Rachel

Most I would say are smart. I couldn't say the same of my floormates. However, I have made friends with my classmates, mostly those in the honors program.

Jamie

I would say the academic level of students varies. I consider myself high achieving and I would have liked to be challenged a bit more by my peers, but I was able to have a lot of meaningful discussions with my professors outside of class that really contributed to my intellectual growth. Although USD is a catholic school not that many students are super catholic. Many were raised catholic and no longer practicing, and then there are those of other religions or no religion. If you want a religious influence while in school, you can become involved with extra-curriculars on campus that involve that, but if you're not interested in the religious aspect you really won't feel it. There are a lot of out of state students from all over the country. There is not a lot of racial diversity though.

Angelica

My classmates are either very priviledge individuals that take their education for granted, ( which is the majority), or they are more like me and work really hard and have a part time job in the side. (which is the minority).

Bridget

The students at this school tend to come economically-priviledged families where they may have not been exposed to real diversity; as such, they tend to not be self-sufficient and narrow-minded.

Kristiana

We have all kinds of people at USD; it's just that many of them come in blonde, female packages.

scott

A lively, fun, intelligent, and beautiful group of people.

Renee

I take classes mostly with students of my major, liberal studies, which prepares students to become elementary school teachers. Most of the classes have mostly female students

Courtney

Each class is different, but most of the time I can find a couple people in the class that are good study-buddies. Some classes are awkward and no one knows each other or talks. The best classes are the small ones, or the ones that you have with your friends.

Alexandra

Active learners. Very fashionable. Very wealthy. Funny.

Nick

Some classmates are serious about their academic careers while others just want to be somewhere else, like the beach.

Christina

My classmates are smart, engaging individuals who love to speak out and are not afraid to share their opinions.

Carolyn

Nick

Kelsi
