The dorms are exceptional. My dorm was so comfortable and ejoyable that i signed up to live there again for my second year. THe bathrooms feel as if you are in some sort of resort. Each floor has its own lounge with a tv and is great to study in. Also, the view from the rooms are beautiful
The dorms at USF are a huge problem! I come from an upper-middle class background, and was expecting something a little more... well... posh. The dorm rooms aren't terrible, but they definitely don't compare to some of the dorms I've seen at other private colleges. They are relatively small and bland, and there aren't any private bathrooms. On-campus housing is a huge problem at USF-- they don't even have enough dorms to house all the incoming freshman! That's why they recently rescinded an on-campus housing rule that stipulated that all underclassmen had to live in the dorms. In my opinion, this actually represents a vast improvement, since the apartments in San Francisco are likely to be much more comfortable than the dorm rooms. The noisy environment of the dorms is not for everyone. Personally, I prefer a bit more privacy.
My freshman year of college I lived in Gillson and I spent very little time in my dorm room, my roommate moved out after the first semester so I had the room to myself but I was rarely in it. The bathrooms were always clean and there was minimal noise. Sophomore year I lived in Lone Mountain in a single and spent a lot of time in the dorms because it was close to Outtakes and there were so many stairs to climbed. I loved living in Lone Mountain, I had beautiful views and good food and it was also usually quiet.
