I take dual enrollment courses here throughout the school week and overall I really like this college. It is a very pretty and open campus and all of the professors are very nice here. I always feel safe on campus even though I do not live there and I always feel welcomed. The food on campus is good and the facilities around the school buildings are very nice as well.

My overall opinion of the University of South Carolina-Beaufort is that this is an amazing school everyone should attend. Our school morale is amazing we’re very keen on inclusion and diversity. Class sizes here are generally very small and allow for the teachers and students to better connect and understand each other on deeper levels. We’ve had various events on campus that showcase how the university stands in solidarity with its students, for example we held a twenty-four hour walk of life for mental illness where every hour for twenty-four hours we took a lap around the campus to show no matter the hour someone is always there. Another perk that makes this campus top notch is its apartment style dorms. Each student on campus gets their own room with 3 other suite mates that is fully equipped with a full kitchen, living room, and washer/dryer which I believe helps us as students get a feel of what its like to live on our own. The campus I reside on is in Bluffton, South Carolina and is surrounded my many shops and places to dine. You can take a drive thirty minutes from campus to Savannah, Georgia to partake in a ghost tour or thirty minutes in the opposite direction to Hilton Head, South Carolina to take a scenic bike tour around the island or visit their Disney resort. No matter where you go on campus there is always a smiling faces which gives and added feeling of warmth and welcome. Creative outlets run rampant here as we have many clubs for people of walks of life and backgrounds to join, for instance if you have no experience in sign language you can join the American Sign Language club where they will be eager to teach you. I believe everyone should get a taste of some sand shark pride and bask of the rich culture that the university encompasses. I give my university five stars !

The close-knit community is a huge plus. You are not just a number in a crowd to your professors. Athletics is alright. Not funded enough. Housing is not good and does not care about the safety of those who pay $7000+ a year to live there. If it is feasible for you to live off campus I highly recommend it. Cafeteria is not good either.

Kelliese - 06/11/2019

I am not a current student at USCB, but I have visited the campus before. My first time visiting USCB was for Spring Day. They had all of the clubs and recreational activities assembled in the gym and we got to tour the campus. Everyone there was so inviting and positive. Overall I would give my experience an 9.5 out of 10.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell myself to follow my heart, and do what i want not what others want. It is my life and my decision for the future and that i should be open to new things instead of having my heart set on one idea and always flying with it. Take time to decide dont just jump into a college that you dont know anything about.

The worst thing about my school is the lack of teaching abilities of professors in the university. Students just like me come to the university to get an education and to learn from the professors who have to help us strive to get a degree, but how can we learn from them when they can't teach the way they should be teaching?

The class sizes are very small. usually no more than 20 students if even. With the smaller class sizes students get more of a one on one feel with there professors. This makes it easier to understand the course work better and get more help if needed.

  10. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

When I talk about my undergraduate experience, I am most grateful about the professors in my major department, English. They are well-versed professionals with passion and zeal for literature who offer ample time and great advice to students. Each English professor offered a different take on the analysis and interpretation of literature, yet all of them provided me with the appropriate resources to think critically and creatively. This is clearly a department that cares about the future of its students!

  12. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Student teacher ratio is small which means more effective learning takes place. The campus is set back, easay to get to and not crowded in a city. With two campuses, it reaches many students from different locations yet both are within driving distance of each other. Tuition is the cheapest in the state for a four year degree yet the teachers are experts ion their field having learned both in school and a minimum of 10 years on the job. Many have owned their own businesses (for business programs) or former doctors.

  13. What is your overall opinion of this school?

The University of South Carolina-Beaufort might not be perfect but the Computational Science program is amazing. I couldn't ask for a better college experience mayor-wise. The program is based on applied computer science so you get experience with languages like Java, C++, and Mathlab just to name a few. Since the school is not big you are able to create a personal relationship with professors which it's a mayor advantage when needing a recommendation letter. I'm not sure about the other mayors but Computational Science would be something i recommend future USCB students.

I can't think of any stereotypes for USCB, I do know is not one of the big name schools so a lot of high school student might make it their last option in their list of colleges. There's also the students who decided to come here because it's close to home and others that like the location near the beach. Everyone has their own reason.
