I believe my college is a great one. I’ve toured many and it was my favorite and extremely close to home. Everyone knows everyone and the teachers know you by name. Everyone is very friendly and I don’t feel like a burden if I need extra help or have questions for any of the professors.

Uscl has great class sizes, that gives its students the opportunity to develop personal relationship with the professors. Professor's often give their personal phone number to students for class related issues. I found myself taking this too my advantage when I was uncertain about the specifics of an assignment. While the the class sizes are great but the facilities are not up to par. The computer labs and wellness center are both too small and outdated for a universities use.

Coming from a small high school, my transition into USC-L was much easier than expected. USC-L has that small town vibe that I was used to, everyone knows everyone. The professors are true professionals in their subject(s) and care about teaching. Student housing and a variety of more sports would probably attract more kids to attend USC-L and give the school more publicity. Overall, I would highly recommend the University of South Carolina-Lancaster to upcoming college students or those who want to transfer to a small school.

It's small but charming. I wish there was better on campus food options, but I guess there needs to be more students before that can be added. I love the class size. I feel like I get one on one attention I wouldn't have gotten at a bigger college. I like it.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I am a third year student at USCL, and I am very happy with my decision to attend this university. It's small, so students and teachers can really connect. Every resource you need will be within a short radius due to the small size. Professors have high availability and care about students' success. Campus is right off the highway, so while we don't have a cafeteria (USCL is primarily a 2 year school, so I believe that has something to do with it) but we are right beside multiple fast food restaurants and grocery stores. I enjoy USCL and am looking forward to my next 2 years here.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time to speak to myself as a high school senior, I would have an earfull to say! I would begin by saying to study and work harder, you only have one chance and only one life so give it your all and you'll go far. I would then tell myself that college is not as scary as you think it is, instead of being shy, go in with your head held high and your fears left behind. Meet new friends and make several lifelong memories. I would tell myself to enjoy it and have fun but also work hard because in the long run it will pay off! I would tell myself that there are several people waiting and hoping to see you fail but there are several more that have your back and they want to see you succeed! Be successful and prove to everyone that has doubt in you that you are going somewhere in life and you will make something of yourself! Be proud, be strong, be loving, be ambitious, be yourself, and of all things be successful!

What's unique about your campus?

There were several great things at the University of South Carolina Lancaster, but I would have to say that one of the best things is the classroom sizes. Many class sizes are small and the college population isn't very large therefore the student gets a better one-on-one time with the teachers. Not only do they get more one-on-one time, the teachers don't have that many students so they get to know the students better which makes more college students feel more welcomed and comfortable.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

This University is really an all around amazing college! I personally felt very accepted and actually enjoyed school. I knew that if I had any problems with anything I had loads of support and help behind me! The teachers actually WANT you to pass unlike the bigger universities where the classes are so full that teachers never even get a chance to learn your name. This school is not for the students who want to blend in and be surrounded by a huge college population.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

A step into the real world. This college is not that big compare to state colleges but I think that every student should start at small college so they don't get overwelmed or side tracked. Compare to big college this college is small so the professor knows you by your name. You are not just a number.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell myslef to reserach the career I am inrested in and volunteer or do an internship so that I know what I am getting myslef into. Once you go to collge the classes are going to be hard and if you have interned you have that motivation to keep your GPA high. I would tell myself to always read the chapter before I come to class so I won't be lost when the teacher is explaining something.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I was'nt really happy going to this college but I had to because it was a good way to save money for two years by commuting. But once I started by classes I realized that I wasnt going to get this kind of help from professor at a big college.
