University of South Florida-Main Campus Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Alexandra

There is a wide variety of students at USF, all with different hobbies and fields of interest. There is not one general stereotype of USF students; there is a vast amount of "labels" that could be identified to certain students (e.g. athletes, fraternity/sorority members, members of the Honors program, etc,) There is also a large group of kids that don't participate in extra curricular activities that still receive a great college experience as well. The typical response I get from people out of state when I tell them that I go to USF is that they are jealous that I live in the most beautiful state and that they heard Tampa is a blast!

Sasha

yeah

Heather

This may not be true.

Yes USF used to be more of a commuter school, but like I said that is changing and I feel most students are from FL

Sort of, it is harder to get into a University compared to a Community College, so people automatically think that if you can go to a university that means you are pretty good, academics wise.

Lisa

No, USF has many residents that live on campus and right across the street from campus.

Dana

No. I have yet to find a stereotype that is true about USF

Charlie

No

Morgan

At least within the Arts and Sciences College at USF I would say the previously cited stereotypes appear to be true. At the college I attended prior to coming to USF I felt loaded with 16 hours of classes, I have taken 23 hours of classes at USF for the past two semesters and it is a breeze compared to the previous college I attended. USF needs to make its academic programs a bit more rigorous or accept the stereotype.

Jessica

Although the classes are big I have not come across a teacher who didn't help me on a individual basis if I needed it.

Jamie

No the sterotypes are not accurate

Alex

Hell yah, u stay forever! But no, we're not wannabes. We are genuine Bulls, and a lot of students who come here want to be here; I know I did.

Jennifer

Yes.
