University of South Florida-Main Campus Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Gabrielle

The most frustrating thing about my school would have to be the unorganized instructors I've had in the past.

Renato

Not gettin the classes that you want because they conflict with other classes or the class itself is filled is the most frustrating thing about your school.

Nathaniel

Worries over finances are really rough to be honest. I do well in school and balance my social life well especially with my strong convictions about God. Even though I know He will provide my school being a major university is very expensive more than I can afford and whenever I go to look for scholarships that my school offers I don't qualify because put very plainly I am white and middle class. My school has one of the highest ethnically diverse campuses and they are proud of that, but it is very frustarting to struggle financially.

Gary

I get the idea that a lot of desicions made by the school are made with money in mind over the students, versus the alternative of students over money. I found myself getting fined for my room, parking situations, and other unexplainable fees. It was almost demoralizing to think the school cared about my money more than me. It's purely speculation though.

Stefanie

FInacial Aid office. Cafeteria Food. Parking. Lots of people, and very crowded at certain buildings.

Melissa

The student parking lot is not big enough. They sell about 1,000 parking permits for students who live on-campus but there are only about 500 stops available. When you park "out-of-area" because the rest of the spots are full, you are given a $30 ticket. They allow you to challenge your ticket (you go online and type up your reason for challenging the ticket, a board reviews it, and decides if you have to pay it) but they rarely take it back.

Desiree

Registering for courses. It can be difficult to get the courses you want before they fill up during your first two years. Registration dates are assigned by number of credit hours.

Ruth

The Most frustrating is the competiveness and the cost.

Kristie

Having a set schedule. I do not have the flexibility to decide if I want to take day or evening courses.

Claire

some college students smoke in undesignated smoking areas.

Raphael

Some of the facilites, such as the Life Sciences building, Cooper Hall and other, seem to be in need of renovation or reconstruction. It is a bit frustrating that the administration used $65 million to build a new student union building, while that money could have gone towards revamping of the aforementioned facilities. Or they could have compromised and built a less grand student union building and allot some of the $65 million to said renovation or reconstruction.

Eddie

jugling school work and social life and sports.

Becky

The most frustrating thing about USF is that it is very difficult to deal with financial problems. The school seems to offer no help in this area. The prices at the student health center on campus have also risen which makes it really hard for many students.

Mary

Finding parking.

Sharon

Fighting for class spots

Jennifer

I wish the weekend library hours were longer. On friday and saturday night the library closes around 5:00 or 6:00 at night, which is ridiculous compared to other schools. Also campus recreation hours need to be more flexible.

Paul

The most frustrating part about USF is the beaurocracy in dealing with the student services staff, especially the office of financial aid.

Megan

The differences between how professors will teach the same class and how different the grading scales, test difficulty, and overall lectures are.

Jeff

That so many people drink when they hang out. Dealing with administrating people, they all just transfer you areoung becasue no one knows anything

Chelsey

It is a suitcase school! Most of campus shuts down on the weekends because students return home, unless there is a big event such as a football game. You just have to meet some friends that stay and hang out on the weekends with you.

Jennifer

The traffic. It is a commuter school so the traffic and parking are very frustrating.

Kevin

The most frustrating this about my school is parking and traffic, and the occasional crazy religious fanatic yelling about his religion.

Courtney

The most frustrating thing is the lack of parking, for me. I live off campus and sometimes there is just not enough spots for commuter students. There was a new parking garage that was completed this semester and it is definitely starting to clear up the problem.

Destiny

When teachers have to dumb down the classes for other students
