I definitely wished I had known the school's campus better.
Use your excess time in between classes to make sure you've finished you homework. If you've enrolled in online classes, make sure you stay up to date with it.
How much studying I was gonna have to do in order to get a good GPA
A good area to look for housing. I was clueless upon arrival as to which areas were safe and well priced.
Attending one of the greatest Universities in this country, there is absolutely nothing that blind sighted me before my admittance to the University of South Florida.
I wish I had learned better study habits.
I wish I had known about the small number of African-American students at this school. At times I feel very uncomfortable while on campus and in class because sometimes I would be the only African-American student in that class.
I wish that I would have known that college takes alot of focus and hard work. College is not just about partying and hanging out with friends. Hard work and dedication are what gets you by in life.
How financial aid works. Someone to sit me down and walk me thorugh it the first time I did it. Becuase it can be very confusing.
The impact of greek life
Nothing. Coming to college is a learning experience in itself. If we all came to college "knowing everything" there would be no point in getting away from home... because we would already be grown up, so to speak.
That finding on campus parking would be difficult.
There is really nothing I wish I knew before coming here.
what I truly want4ed to major in.
I knew several things about this school before i attended.
Before coming to this school I wish I had known more about scholarship opportunities so my money will last after 3 years of college.
That the housing i live in now is not the best around the school
If I had known that the majority of social activities outside of recreation took place off campus I would never have wanted to live on campus. I've found that the only advantage to living on campus is being 15min from nearly any class by foot. Otherwise, the food is moderate to poor and the living spaces are cramped and the rules are strict.
I wish I had known the national opinion of USF prior to the start of my graduate work.
How to better involve myself in campus-wide activities and the conditions of my scholarships.
This school is extremely ethnically diverse. Sometimes, it is like walking through a different country
I wish I would have known everything about the area surrounding my university.
The difficulty of finding parking... I probable would have tried to live closer to campus.
I wish I would have known all of the right people to call on campus if I needed anything. For example, in the College of Education, some of the people who hold high positions are very helpful if you can get in contact with them. Also, which classes to take... after I began college I learned about ratemyprofessors.com but that was after my first semester which I think I would have done a little bit better had I known which professors / classes to take.
I wish I had known how difficult it would be to get out of the school. Also how difficult it would be to meet new people as a transfer student.
I wish I had been more prepared to cover the costs that college entails. I had bright futures for my tuition, but then there are books, housing, food, gas, entertainment...etc. It has been very difficult for me to pay for everything I need for school. But, this school is one of the more less expensive schools around, and I am happy with the quality of education I have been recieving, so it is worth it, but still pretty difficult.
I actually think I came to USF prepared for whatever was thrown at me. I basically took anything with open arms and went with the flow of things.
How bad the parking can be.
Coming to the university, I had no idea what kind of experiences I would have, which clubs I would join, and the friends I would make. It almost seems like I stumbled upon each with opportunity and friendship I came across. I don't wish to have known anything, because, if I'd known what to expect, the precious memories I will always hold dearly would not be nearly as significant. Since enrolling at USF, I have become stronger, more independent, and a new person . My journey is still not over, but I wouldn't change a single step.
That the meal plans and the on campus housing are expensive and a rip off. That finding parking is extremely difficult. That it is better to live off campus.
How to manage my time better
I wish it had a 7 year med program.
I wish I would have known to take my studies more seriously and not focus on members of the opposite sex as much. I feel that my grades and college experience are better when I do not make boys my main focus.
That parking was horrible.
Better housing arrangements.
I wish I would have known about how challenging the courses are in this school. I am glad that I go here because they are challenging, but it hit me real hard when I first got to the school and it affected my grade in the beginning.
I wish I knew there would be so much more expected of me in order to get to where i want to be. I'm glad I didn't know too much because I'm happy to have discovered it all on my own.
How to get scholarships from the school if you didn't earn one out of high school.
I wish I had know what I wanted to major in because you get behind if you don't know your major by your sophmore year. I wish I had known that the administration gives more emphasis on research then the actual teachers.
University of Central Florida
I wish I had known that in the real world, we have to make choices on our own and not just depend on our parents. You have to know that everyone is not your friend, and that you have to look out for yourself. This is where our parents have instilled good and firm morales and we need to make choices as young adults based on those morales. I wish it was a warm and inviting place, it is not. I have been lucky to be home with my parents a lot of the time while going to school.
I wish I had known that almost half of the dorms on campus are either older buildings that have not been updated/renovated to meet the same standard as the newer dormitories, or that the newer buildings are significantly more expensive than the rest while not maintaing some of the same benefits as the older ones.
the area it is in
student life
I wish I would have known that it is very different from high school and is somewhat tough.
Meal plans are required for first year students living on campus. They are costly and a waste of money. About 1,600 per semester, that's over 3 grand a year. My financial aid isn't covering that.
financial aid help
The people
That college would be way more expensive then i thought it would be.
Nothing really. I enjoy USF.
