For someone trying to choose a school, actually visiting the campus and looking into everything (i.e. housing, clubs, security) is very helpful. Different campuses have different atmospheres and it is important to find the right one for you. Talk to the students and professors and see what they like most about their school. How close to home you would like to be can play a factor in your choice, too.
To students: If you want to find the right college sometimes it is the college right down the road. If you are into certain sports, hobbies, activities make sure the college has it. Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes you have to get involved to get what you pay.
I would especially tell parents and students to make sure that they visit several colleges before accepting admission to an university. Because campus visits give students and parents the opportunity to see how the campus operates and a chance to view where the students will be living.
The best advice I could give to someone seeking a higher education would be this; carefully consider what it is you want to do. If you dont know, think about what you like and start there. It is not important to know exactly what degree your seeking when you first enter college, it is only important to first get there and along the way you will decide exactly what it is that you do best and that most interest you. Like I said firts JUST GET THERE, having an education is one of the best things you could possibly obtain, so get in there, and get educated. Secondly, location. I moved five hours away from home which at the time (at 18) seemed GREAT, but its always nice to remember the closer your family is, the more readily available they are to help! College is a great expierence, GET INVOLVED IN EVERYTHING and make the most of it!
