Anne

The University of St. Thomas has high expectations for its students. To be a student at St. Thomas you should want to be hard working, and committed to your schooling.

David

Someone who doesn't want a small private school. Some one who wants non denominational school. Someone who doesn't want to work hard on their studies.

Cory

The University of St. Thomas is a great school for all personalities. There are hundreds of clubs and organizations and if one doesn't fit who you are, you can form your own and have the University's support.

Stephanie

Very liberal and open-minded people (oops)

Anthony

Someone who wants good education in a less urban setting than some larger schools.

Lauren

Someone who is looking for a very large school with a lot of diversity.

Kayla

The only type of person i think that shouldn't attend St. Thomas is someone who doesn't want to succeed. Anyone who does want to succeed and have a great experience should definately consider St. Thomas.

Brooke

As far as I have seen, I think that all persons who are interested in attending this university would do well. I think that they would have an easy time fitting in within the UST community and would be welcomed by the staff and fellow students.

David

The really talented dedicated athletes (we're division 3)

Xai

The kind of person who shouldn't attend University of St. Thomas is one who is really quiet and quite reserve to him/herself. I had learned in my first semester at UST, everyone is very open-minded. In all my classes, (theo 101, Phil 115, Bio 201) everybody speaks in class and if you're not one of them, you won't learn as much.

Emily

People who are not academically driven or interested in extra curricular activities.

Brent

A person with no motivation to do great and change the world should not attend the University of St. Thomas. St. Thomas is a great place to receive an education so if you don't take school seriously then St. Thomas is not for you. The school I attend is a private school that offers many great opportunities especially if you are going into business because St. Thomas is associated with many well known corporations. A person who attend St. Thomas must be ready to seize the opportunities that are presented to them without hesitation.

Teresa

Someone very artistic and against the catholic church (since 3 theology classes are required).

Ben

Someone who likes a very large University should not attend this school. The class sizes here are very small, which is preferable to some, but not all. Also, if you really hate cold weather, any school in Minnesota is a poor choice. However, there is a descent tunnel system on campus so avoiding the cold is somewhat possible.

Jason

The kind of person who should not attend this school is the kind of person who does care about his or her intellectual growth. Many of the instructors at this school encourage their students to take an interest in the course even if the course is not included in the requirements for the students major. Many students do not appreciate an instructor who does this, but if those students feel that way they should attend a different university.

Madeleine

Someone who is looking for a bad college experience should not attend this school.

Nicole

If you are unsure of your major I don't reccomend this school because it does cost a a lot, but there are various scholarships to obtain. If you don't like a small community or the city life I would not reccomend St. Thomas.

Alaura

Students that shouldn't attend the University of St. Thomas are lazy ones that think their work will get done for them. These teachers are tough and will flunk you. Nobody wants to be flunked because it's expensive to attend college. Also, students that think college is just about partying shouldn't come here either because they will be greatly disappointed.

Trevor

Someone who isn't prepared to apply 100{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of their academic abilities because the course work here is notoriously rigorous. Also, the university requires all students to go through a liberal arts foundation of classes. This includes subjects many other colleges don't require such as philosophy, fine arts, sociology, and theology. The idea is to provide you with a well-rounded education, but it also gives you great practice at working hard towards something you may not find particularly strong interest in.

Daniel

A student looking for a free-pass throughout college. Students who are undriven, unenthusiastic, and unwilling to put in the effort to further themselves not just through college, but through life.

Nicholas

A person who desires a big college scene should stay away from this school. St. Thomas is a rather small college and that may be a turn off for some. So far there doesn't seem to be too big of campus events for sports or anything. Although, everyone is friendly and many people know each other just from seeing each other around on campus. I believe it is a great school environment and like its size. It is very easy to focus on academics here and that is what it most important to me.

Andrea

someone who is looking for a large student body and not willing to spend a lot of money on their education.

Jason

People who are stupid, or dont want to get a good education.

Xue

The type os person who should not attend the Univeristy of St. Thomas will have to be a person who give up in college or is looking to have fun with a lot of people. The people here are fun and nice to hang out with, but this is a rather small school. Students who seek 1st divsion sports or students who like less atention from their professors.

Paul

Anyone interested in the fine arts.

Maivncais

I don't really know. Well may be a person who doesn't really want to work hard in school. I say this because this schoolo makes you work to your up most best. They challenge their students in a positive way to help them achieve their highest potentails. Plus the school is pretty expensive, although St. Thomas do give out good scholarship and financial help.

Katelyn

Students who do not want a school foucused on business careers. People who do not want liberal arts education. Those who like an impersonal academic expereience.

Katie

Students who are liberal and afraid of or intolerable of differing thinkers should not attend this school because it tends to be conservative. There are clubs and organizations on campus for those with liberal opinions; it is just more difficult to make progress here. Students who fear financial loans should also not attend UST because it is rather expensive. The school offers financial aide, but it still costs a lot to attend.

Daniel

Someone that is hard-strapped for cash or that wants really challenging academic work.

Will

Someone who is very liberal and focusing on the arts.

Clare

People who will just sit in class and never talk, those that roll their eyes if the teacher gets off topic or complain everytime their grade is below average. Baically apathetic people should not be allowed. Neither should people whose vocabular consists of vulgar language every other word.

Alisha

Someone who isn't ready to work for the degree. Its a challenging school and strives to make their students the best.

Emily

Someone very opposed to the Catholic church.

Amanda

Someone who is not willing to go out and find friends on their own. Here there isn't a lot to do on campus your freshman year, so it is up to you to go out and find the friends you want. Also someone who is not open to taking religion classes because they are the most imporatant here. Also if you want to be able to hide in the back of the class and have a professor not know you, here isn't your best bet.

Alycia

People that don't want to be judged and want to become their own person. The typical dress at St. Thomas is a North Face, Coach purse, and Ugg boots. You are judged by what you wear and who your friends are before people actually get to know you. If you want to find out who you are and not go to high school round two don't go here. I loved high school, but this is it all over again, but not as fun. If you want to find friends for life this is not a school for you.

Julia

Someone who doesn't care about their future/ academics.

Craig

The kind of person that should not attend this school is the person that thinks they can BS their way through life. You will only get so far in life that way and you will just end up wasting LOTS of money. You need to be open minded to the ideas of the School and you need to be able to work hard when that time arrives.

Rachel

A person who is lazy and not concerned with their academic status should not attend this university, because there is a high amount of competition in every class and one would be unsuccessful if they tried to simply "slide by". Those who do not put much effort into their studies are frowned upon by both students and faculty, because the campus is serious about academics.

Annemarie

Liberal people who are looking for a wide variety of diversity and large classes. There is a lot available around the university, but this school is not for you if you don't have a car and are not willing to use public transportation.

Stephanie

People who are very liberal or against religion in general

Tara

If you are looking for a liberal-hippie-artsy school St. Thomas is not for you, go down the street to Macalaster. If you are looking for a school where you can go wil its not for you either.

Grant

Anyone who likes smaller schools and wants to be known by name with their profs.
