University of Toledo Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Alexandra

I believe they do to an extent. The student organizations on campus are run by the students. So I believe it is up to those organizations to make a name for themselves.

Tyler

No, we have amazing sports teams and our students are all polite, courteous, and we have the best professors around!

There are many great ways to be involved on campus besides just being Greek. There is an organzization for everything, just the other day I saw a poster for the UT Running Club.

With the combining of the UT Medical School, The University of Toledo is going above and beyond the expectations of those who come up with these false perceptions. We have had great achievement from not only our medical school, but students who study engineering, communication, education, etc. Our school is entering into the new age of going green by starting a new solar energy study program. So this stereotype is definitely FALSE.

Stereotypes can never be accurate when talking about a large group of people. Sure, there are students that fit that stereotype but there are also students that do not.

Nick

To the point yes but not entirely.

Kara

Yes, the diversity stereotype is completely accurate and who can complain about that? A lot of colleges struggle to be as diverse as UT is. Every student is happy to be here and embraces the many cultures walking around campus. UT is not just a commuter school either. The majority of students live on campus, which I never really knew either until coming here. But there are also a ton of houses located in a small radius of the university. One characteristic that stands out to me is how friendly all the students are here at UT. I was a transfer student my junior year, I will not mention where I came from, but I quickly noticed how much friendlier everyone was in comparison to my prior school. You may not think it's a big deal because I didn't either, but after experiencing it firsthand I realized that even the gesture of holding a door open for someone can go a long way.
