Being on a large campus such as this where some of your classes can have up to 500 students, it can be intimidating to talk to professors - especially during lecture! However, all professors really want is to connect with you and help you learn the material. So long as you make a genuine effort to go to office hours and get to know your teachers, you are going to make amazing connections, colleagues, and friends throughout your college career and beyond.

I always have a high respect for the knowledge held by all of my professors. In my opinion, their success as teachers depends on their ability to impart their knowledge to the students in an interesting way. A number of UW professors, especially in the sciences, are perhaps more suited for research than for teaching; however, the majority of teachers do manifest a healthy interest in whether their students learn the material.
