It's harder to get out into the woods than I thought. This campus is strictly urban, with some great park and beautiful lakes. The more people tell you to take adavantage of your time there, the better. Apply for scholarhipos early, starting with a timeline and than focusing on the ones that are ost relevant to you. It doesn't actually rain so much - more of an every-other day drizzle.
Before coming to school I wish I would have known that I could be anyone I wanted to be, I didn't have to be the person I had been thoughout highschool. You can be anyone you want to be, and you can become anyone you want to be, and it's finding yourself that is so important when it comes to your social life in collage.
upper level science classes aren't smaller. Don't come here if you are a science major.
How much work would be required of me.
That it is best to get involved on campus us much as you can. It makes a more fulfilling experience.
How to get into a sorority.
I wish I would have known a little more about myself and the way I learn. It took me along time to figure out the best ways to study and learn the material presented to me in classes. I wish I could have figured this out sooner so that I didn't miss out on such good information taught by my professors.
I wish I had understood the value of studying and of doing homework in a timely maner.
That it is huge. No exageration.
To choose a major before hand and know what you want to do
I wish I had known college is not that easy. You really need to do the work, otherwise you can't succeed.
large class sizes at the beginning for general ed courses
That it is important to attend as many social activities as you can to network with others.
I wish I would've known to get my language requirements out of the way early! I waited until my senior year and almost didn't graduate. Also, that you can overload classes by emailing the professor during registration.
I never knew it would be this overcast...
I wish I had known about how slippery slick red square was so I hadn't slipped the first day it rained!
The area surrounding the University is very unsafe.
Nothing
That this school has a very heavy emphasis on research. Therefore, professors have very limited and interest for their students. Classes available to the freshmen are usually very big, 200 plus students per class. Even though some professors take the time and try to reach their students, it's just not possible with the size of classes. Usually only upper-level classes have 40 or less students.
I wish I knew that time management skills used in high school is very different from college. You have to put more effort and time into studying in order to learn the materials. Learning in college is at a much faster pace than high school, therefore you have to allow yourself enough time to do everything you want in one day. You must be more organized and on top of things. There is no teacher or parent there to remind you to turn off the TV and study!
There is nothing I wished to have known before coming to this school. One must accomadate oneself to the changes of their surroundings and this university made that extremely easy. From learning to ride the bus as means of transportation, to understanding the social/greek life, to understanding what is necessary to do well academically, every moment has been and still is a learning experience. It is made so because you are surrounded by people who are just as interested in this city and school and who are happy to help you out.
Nothing.
