An amazing experience. If you want the full "college experience," please, please, please consider Madison. Though I have only been to a semester of this school, I have completely fallen in love. The campus is gorgeous, the people are amazing, game days incredible, and the academics challenging. With State Street literally funneling onto campus, there is always something to do. Camp Randall is electric on football Saturdays. There isn't a moment that I've lived in those grody dorms that I haven't regretted my decision.

My overall opinion of the University of Wisconsin-Madison is that it is a very well rounded school that gives everyone a chance to succeed depending on your personal choices. Many people told me this was a school where "everyone drinks all the time", and I was very nervous about this aspect because I did not want to participate in this activity. Once I got there and took classes in my major, I found many people that felt like me because they wanted to focus on classes/studying. This made me feel comfortable with the university. Also, there are many extracurricular activities to join depending on your interests, and the professors always had regular office hours or could schedule other times to meet with you for additional help (I have taken advantage of these opportunities numerous times). Besides the fact that there is some drinking culture, the only other negative is that there is some "snootiness" students and faculty have; they think they are better/their opinions matter more than people who live in other parts of Wisconsin. However, not many people feel this way. Overall, its top rated undergraduate nuclear engineering program and in-state tuition rate were the main deciding factors for me to choose to complete my undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

I love the University of Wisconsin Madison. Coming into my freshman year I was a bit terrified because of the University's reputation for rigorous classes and huge class sizes. As I moved into my dorm, Witte Hall, everyone was welcoming and eager to begin the year. I was able to make a lot of friends from my hall, classes, and when I went out on the weekends. Game days are also one of the best parts about the school. As you step outside your door on football mornings a sea of red welcomes everyone. I have never been anywhere that gets so hyped for their team. I’ll never forget my first game day experience. Overall I think the UW is an amazing place. The city has so much to offer and it is truly impossible to be bored there. Classes are very challenging, but it just takes an extra bit of effort to reach your goals. Every since I stepped foot on campus I have become very determined to make a difference in the world, this is partly due to the Wisconsin Idea. It is an idea that encompasses every aspect of the UW. Students are taught that their actions and education should be geared toward the goal of helping more than just themselves or Wisconsin, but the whole world. I have been an advocate of this idea since my first tour. I think it is a fantastic idea to put in the minds of eager students as they enter college. I believe the University of Wisconsin Madison is a fantastic place to live and learn.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a great school for students who are confident, self-sufficient, and passionate about their studies. I put near-constant effort into studying, keeping up with readings, and connecting with my professors and I have done very well at Madison. Because it is such a huge school, there is heavy competition and you have to work hard to make an impression on your professors. As long as you have the self-assurance necessary to make yourself stand out, you will thrive here. Additionally, the coursework is rigorous. You will have rather long assignments for each classes one to two times a week generally. Students who do not complete their work or attend lecture will see the effect on their grades. As far as the social scene, the population is pretty homogenous. You will encounter mostly white, cisgender, heterosexual students from around Wisconsin. Although Madison has a liberal reputation, the students who attend the University can be ignorant and bigoted. That being said, if you are passionate about issues such as civil rights, government reform, and racial justice you will be able to find an enlightened group of students on campus. There are learning communities, organizations, and classes dedicated to exploring your identities and privileges, which I have enjoyed greatly. It is pretty easy to meet people if you are willing to get involved outside of class. I have a close group of friends as well as many other acquaintances I can reach out to to hang out. There is a lively party scene on the weekends, which is fun. Even if you are not a drinker, it is nice to have the opportunity to go out, dance, and have some fun with friends every once in a while. Overall, the University of Wisconsin-Madison is a school for those who want it all. If you are ready to work hard in class, hit the library a couple times a week, and live it up on Friday nights, this is the school for you! Madison has been a great place for me to grow and learn.

UW Madison is an amazing place of opportunity and higher learning. Although there is a large party scene, there is plenty of other activities. Incredibly helpful facilities and mentors are available. It is a beautiful school! Although it is a bit pricey, it is an amazing place. There are almost too many opportunities!

Academics is amazing, and definitely makes me things about the world in different ways. One of the biggest problems with the school is that there is no meal plan, so students do waste a lot of money on food. There are many ways to get involved by joining organizations. It's almost impossible not to find an organization that doesn't fit you.

It is a wonderful school. It has a strong academic standing and a lot of extracurricular activities that allow people to participate in. The teacher are wonderful, they take out their time to explain and be available for students that will need help in their subject. We have a strong sport atmosphere especially for football. There is a lot of research opportunity . One place to visit is the Wisconsin Terrace. There is a lot of music, people, and a beautiful view of the lake.

I love University of Wisconsin-Madison! I grew up in Madison and have dreamt of going to school here since I was a child. Madison is a beautiful city with so much diversity in food, cultures and people. At the center of it all, it the University. I would be lying if I did not admit that Madison is definitely a college town but I think going to school in a college town gives us a better experience. The students are at the center of it all and we are giving lots of attention. The academics are very strong, the professors are great, classes challenge us to work hard and learn a lot, and there are so many clubs that make it so easy to get involved and meet people! I would recommend this amazing University to anyone and everyone.

Academically I think Madison is a great school that challenges it's student and motivates us to work hard. Socially, people can sometimes seem cold and there is little interaction between people who don't know each other. The party scene is very big in Madison.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I am a transfer student from UW-Oshkosh, and I absolutely love UW-Madison this semester. The academics are unbelievably engaging, and it is known that the students here are held to a high standard. Every day in class I feel like the information is not only thoroughly explained, but also applied to situations in our everyday lives. I am so grateful for the opportunities that UW-Madison has given to me, such as belonging to Mu Kappa Tau- the honorary marketing society, Business, Badgers, and Beyond volunteer group, and the athletic department food and beverage crew. Through the clubs I joined I was able to meet tons of new people while also gaining more insight about future careers through presentations put on through these student organizations. Specifically, two individuals from Kohl's corporate office came in to present to us, and through their explanation of their personal careers, I was able to gain a more clear vision about what I personally want to do in the business world after I graduate from UW-Madison. Not only that, but there is no beating the scenery surrounding the Madison campus. The downtown area is always alive with people and fun activities to do, while the two lakes and nature paths are serene and peaceful. UW-Madison really is the best of both worlds in this regard, and I could not be able to ask for more!
