After 4 years of attending Ursinus College, I can easily say that this college has been one of my best choices I have ever made. The small school inclusive environment has allowed me to thrive inside and outside the classroom. The small student-faculty ratio has been so wonderful to build relationships with professors and has been so helpful in aiding me to apply to graduate school. I am very close and have a great relationship with my academic advisor and my pre-health advisor, if it wasn't for him. I am not sure I would be in the position of applying for graduate school. Professors within your major care so much about their students. Rarely ever have I seen a professor being ignorant or purposely wanting students to fail. the campus has a ton of research opportunities that allows the students to build so many skills outside the classroom and help them with the job search process post graduation. The athletic department at Ursinus has made me fall in love with my sport again. With the pandemic striking in 2020 when I was towards the end of my athletic season, but just fell short of completing it. With the support of my coaches, athletic training staff, and athletic directors, they have accommodating so much for student-athletes and have made our experience one to always remember. With a graduating class of under 2000 students, everyone at UC feels like family. You will always see a familiar face, and if you are on a sports team, you will always know who is a student athlete and most likely smile and wave. With class sizes very small, you are able to make friends so quickly at UC and was a super easy adjustment with having a naturally introverted personality. I will never forget my time at Ursinus, and I am very thankful I was so able to be a part of community that I was able to achieve my goals in. Go bears!
I think it is a good liberal arts school. I have the unfortunate perspective a student attending during the pandemic, however I feel we handled it about as well as any other school could've. The overall culture is one where the students are ambitious and involved, we truly do want to change the world each in our own small way and Ursinus does a pretty good job of helping us achieve that.
It’s a great place for a certain kind of student. If you like small class size/a good sense of community where you will get to know your classmates and professors, unique opportunities (regarding study abroad, internships, research, etc), challenging but rewarding academics, and meaningful extracurriculars/sports experiences, Ursinus is a great fit for you.
The education that I received at UC helped me tremendously throughout my career. The academic rigor often felt frustrating as a student but when I left and worked with people who had attended more prestigious universities I was more than able to hold my own. I worked for several years before returning to graduate school to pursue an MA/MBA at two highly prestigious universities. I was able to outperform the majority of my peers in these institutions and it felt like less work than I did as an undergrad at UC. UC is wildly undervalued but seems to be on its way up. I just passed through the campus and was amazed by the new buildings!
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Ursinus College is 82%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
Relax, it's not as hard as they make it sound in high school. Also, get to know your professors as humans and not just teachers. Many of them are extrememly awesome people.
Ursinus students study hard during the week and they play hard on the weekends.
Ursinus students also frequently participate in study abroad and research opportunities.
I feel that the best aspect of my school is the strong academic orientation of the school. I like how I am able to have an active social life while still keeping my grades up and the pressure to join Greek life doesnot conflict with my studies and my ability to make friends. Ursinus is a supportive academically, socially, and emotionally. These were all of the characteristics which I pursued in a school when applying to colleges.
I think the food is the worst part about my school. After four years fo school it is very hard to like the food that i am forced to eat on a daily basis . it gets old after a while, but i guess whats the case with every school.
My school is best known for their pre-med and biology programs and their international relations and pre-law progams. They are known for gymnastics and field hockey.
Someone who can afford tuition. If you're not going to grad school afterward, forget about finding a job.
There is nothing that frustrates me about Ursinus College.
Ursinus is a fantastic school for anyone who is genuinely interested in working hard and seeing it pay off.
People who like to party a lot, people who like the city life and pepole who get bored easily. The school is very small and is in a small town.
Ursinus is a small, liberal arts school that can relate to it's student body. There are things for everyone to do on campus, you just need to look around. Many of the students party Thursday-Saturday nights, but they are still able to get the required work done with superb results. The atmosphere does not interfere with the majority of the student body's work.
The level of difficulty in the courses, and also the course load and amount of work that is required for classes. Also, the expectations of teachers
Ursinus offers students a remarkable education centered on its common intellectual environment (CIE). Prospective students and parents should take note. There is good evidence that education increases significantly when students start from a common base. For example, colleges, such as Ursinus, that recruit students who are equally well prepared, will learn far more in class. That is common sense, because the professor can adapt his or her teaching to all the students without the burden of trying to accomodate a few who are either not ready for the course material, or who are well beyond it. When you add to that a program such as Ursinus' CIE, you have the basis for world class education. Having spent time on the campus on several occasions recently, I can attest that is the experience of students on this campus west of Philadelphia.
Overall, I love this school and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Although students frequently complain about the dining services, most are content with the other features of campus and are proud to be Ursinus students. Students here often cite the high quality of teaching as one of the hallmarks of an Ursinus education.
Ursinus has an eclectic mix of students, many of whom are involved in athletics, greek life, and other campus organizations. Generally speaking, most students are dedicated to their studies.
