Ursinus offers students a remarkable education centered on its common intellectual environment (CIE). Prospective students and parents should take note. There is good evidence that education increases significantly when students start from a common base. For example, colleges, such as Ursinus, that recruit students who are equally well prepared, will learn far more in class. That is common sense, because the professor can adapt his or her teaching to all the students without the burden of trying to accomodate a few who are either not ready for the course material, or who are well beyond it.
