Probably mostly Mormon stereotypes. This is sort of accurate because we have a large percentage, but we have many other religions also represented.

Mormons and Mormon-haters? and plus all us international students.

Depending on who you talk to, you have a huge group of "Mormons" of which I'm a proud member, there's also the jocks and the frat kids, but mostly I associate with the marching band members, which might be another stereotype

I don't notice stereotyping very often here at Utah State. I do know that the Mormon religion is very dominant. This is the only stereotype I have seen. I am not Mormon, and I have not had any problems fitting in. This school is very friendly and welcomes a variety of people.

A stereotypical USU student: from Utah/Idaho, Mormon, doesn't drink, conservative. I think there are a lot of those stereotypical students here, but there are lots of other students (like me) that do not fit the norm. Not from Utah, non-LDS, liberal. Something I like about USU is that while there are lots of the stereotypical students, there is variety on campus and plenty of people that feel, act, and live differently.

Hicks, as in farmers, we get this stereotype because USU has an amazing Ag. science program and we are starting a PHD program in vet. science. Despite these programs this stereotype is incorrect, even within the Ag. science program. Many more of our students are in engineering or the Huntsman school of business, so we have a very studious and professional student body.

Two of the most common stereotypes of students at Utah State are cowboys/cowgirls and frat kids. Because we live in a smaller town and were originally an agriculture school, there is a decent percentage of "country folk". Utah State also has it's fare share of fraternities and sororities. However, it's not like anything you would experience on the East Coast, it's definitely a diluted stereotype.

Typical stereotype of the bulk of the students is good Mormon kids. While there are certainly plenty of those (it is Utah after all), there are other groups available if you so choose to associate with them. Whatever your interests or personality, you can probably find something that will work for you.

I think a big generalization about Utah State University students is that the majority of them are super granola and outdoorsy. This is a fairly accurate stereotype because there is a large portion of students who were already very much into outdoor activities and then the rest of the students who weren't like that before coming to Utah State become outdoorsy while they are here. This is a very natural change because of our location right next to the mountains. Besides the interest stereotype I would say another is that we are exceptional students. Utah State offers countless programs for each major to enhance their education and USU students succeed in all fo them making them better candidates for jobs in the real world. Last one i'd like to add is our school spirit and pride. You will never find an Aggie who doesn't have Utah State pride in their blood!

Although this may be true in a few cases, Utah State actually fosters an incredibly diverse campus with quality students who have varied backgrounds, interests, and abilities. Let me highlight the 5 typical students on Utah State's campus: 1 - Mormon students. The State of Utah is known for its high percentage of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As such, Mormon students are a large part of Utah State's campus. With encouragement by their culture and religion, mormon students maintain very high standards of morality, academics, and leadership. This type of USU student lives a very responsible student life while still enjoying fun activities on campus and in the community. 2 - Involved Students. Utah State's campus culture is one of student involvement. One would be very hard pressed to find a USU student that is not part of a club, organization, chapter, or other entity that focuses on student development, career acceleration, or social interaction. 3 - Greek students. For a Utah school, Utah State has a fairly strong Greek culture. There are several fraternities and sororities that one can join. The Greek culture on Utah State is one of leadership, service, and partying! 4 - International Students. Recent years have seen a strong growing international student presence at Utah State. There is a pretty big diversity of stereotypes here at Utah State. There are Frats, Emo's, Jocks, nerds, preps, military, snobs, poor kids, rich kids, fat kids, skinny kids, video gamers. real gamers. and a lot more. Your bound to fit in somewhere and Utah State!
