I need to state this before going into this review, as a sophomore college cadet who is not in the ECP (Early Commission Program) my views on the college is limited in that I have only experienced VFMAC (Valley Forge Military Academy and College) as a college student and not as an ECP cadet. The college's Justice and Security department brought my attention to VFMAC as the study of counter terrorism, history of totalitarian ideologies, and national security peaked my interest. Additionally VFMAC has the shortest plebe system compared to other military colleges as cadets who have completed it will be recognized as cadets in 8 weeks rather than one year. The plebe system had its benefits in that throughout the weeks plebes would befriend each other quickly and the transition from plebe to cadet was rewarding. Though some may shy away from the college's military environment the atmosphere does build discipline and endurance. The academics, in my experience studying for my associates degree in Justice and Security studies, do shine as professors really encourage students to delve deeper into their studies and are always available whether through email or office hours. The class sizes are small in that there are usually about thirty or more students in any given classroom which in my view is excellent because it puts less distance between the professor and students. As for sports, I participate in cross country so my experience is limited to that, the coach is very friendly and encouraging in that he always takes care of the team. The food is alright, for vegetarians there is a salad bar and for cadets who don't like what's being served up front there is a make your own sandwich station; the lunch staff do accommodate for religious diets of Islamic and Semitic students in that you can ask for a kosher or halal meal. As far as I know there is only on campus housing to which college cadets have 3 dorms, Von Steuben for female cadets, Lafayette and Younghusband for the males, both have to live in rooms of two; though cadets can decorate their rooms they have keep them and the dorms as a whole clean and when there is inspection the rooms must look neat and up to VFMAC standard. As for the campus facilities the library, cadet store, and laundry are readily available within each of there hours; my only complaints are that the library needs a more stable network and better computers, and that most of the cadet store's stock is overpriced. Valley Forge does have some problems in that there are more officers than NCOs (non commissioned officers) which makes communication within the college corp and to the administration messy. Athletic cadets are let off the hook most of the time when they get into trouble and recent lack of discipline has seen the dorms being in a wrecked state with overflowing trashcans. Overall VFMAC is a good college and has the potential to be an even greater one as most of the problems I have stated can be fixed in time through effective policy implementation.

This school is not bad. The effort students put in is what they will receive. The professors are great all ways there to help. The campus food is terrible they do not put a lot of thought into the quality or choices. the barracks are awful really needs renovations immediately. overall the school will get people to where they want to be, but there just something that will have to change to become a better institution.
