Tell us about the sports scene on campus.

It's probably best described by one of our t-shirts: "Blacksburg: A drinking town with a football problem." Football is definitely the big sport on campus. Every Saturday football game-- home or away-- really brings out the Tech spirit. I'm definitely going to miss the tailgates! Of course football isn't our only successful sport; Basketball, hockey, soccer, tennis, etc. all do extremely well and draw much support. There are also a number of club teams (lacrosse, rugby, water polo), as well as intramural sports. Needless to say, there's always some game going on!

The sport scene is absolutely ridiculous here. Not that sports is the only thing that defines us- don't think I'm saying that at all. However, there is no doubting that this school is huge on athletics. If you enjoy football, you will be in for a real treat here. The football games at Lane Stadium are unmatched, and are some of the most fun times you'll ever have the chance to experience at a college. Before football games, you will see tailgaters of maroon and orange colors literally flooding campus. The whole aspect of it all makes for a really incredible experience you won't find at most other colleges. Basketball is also a huge sport on campus, but you don't nearly see people get as hyped for basketball games as they do for football. The school also offers almost every other sport you could think of, and students are encouraged to participate. We have two huge gyms where students can simply work-out or participate in indoor sports. We also have tons of athletic fields surrounding campus for intramural and club sports. While sports are not the only thing at Virginia Tech, they certainly have a huge impact on the school.

The sports scene at Tech: electric. When game day rolls around for the either of the two big sports on campus, football and basketball, the entire town wakes with anticipation—like a kid on Christmas. I’m not kidding. The town oozes excitement. It’s a wonderful and infectious feeling. I don’t even like sports. But I can’t help jumping to “Enter Sandman,” jingling my keys on third down, and throwing my hands up… “and they stay there.” You get my drift. The sports scene at Tech brings a sense of community with it, and regardless if you love sports or are indifferent on game day you’re a Hokie.

Sports are a big deal at VT. I cant imagine going to a college that doesn't have a football team, basketball team, etc. I guess the male sports are the most popular. Football games are the best time. When everyone starts jumping when "Enter Sandman" starts playing at the beginning of games, to the cannons going off when we score, it is such a great time to be with fellow Hokies. I think we show good sportsmanship to other visiting teams, ans we ALWAYS support our fellow Hokies. We travel to away games, and pack stadiums.

Men's soccer takes on Boston College at night, a cold one at that. We lost but love was in the air. There is footage of a man hitting on a police woman, but the feelings didn't look reciprocated.

Before and During clips from a VT basketball game against Mount St. Mary's that was too close of a game. We still won though.
