General education classes are really large

The school has very large class sizes for the introductory classes which is kind of a turn of while in the lower grades.

The worst thing about my school is it's size. You are tiny in comparison to the other 24,999 people who are also living, working, and going to school around you. Often when times get rough it's hard to see yourself as an individual important person, making school here very stressful. However, once you get used to the size you realize how to make the largeness of the school work for you not against you.

The worse thing about my school is the crowded dining halls. Because there are so many students, there are always people in the dining halls when I am trying to get something to eat. Many upperclassmen have meal plans, and therefore, they are in the dining halls.

Big classes at the beginning of undergrad, because it's hard to get help sometimes. But they get smaller and profs. love to help during office hours.

Sometimes I wish that the town that my school is in was bigger.

The worst and best part of this university is its location. Blacksburg has been slowly growing, so there are more things for students to do, but students used to the city may become slightly bored. However, there's natural beauty within minutes of campus, and a short drive can take you to the App. trail.

I would have to say the class sizes but that is one thing I was warned about before I went to Tech. It definitely takes some getting use to but the further along you get in our major the smaller the class sizes get.

The worst part about this school is the fact that you cannot take most of the classes for which you signed up. They overbook the amount of students capable of learning on campus and this forces upper-classmen to "force-add" their classes for graduation.

The only complaint I have about this school is some of the professors do not seem to care for your performance.

I wish it was more culturally diverse, especially more African American.

I love VT Tech but it is sometimes hard to be in a large classroom setting. I have had to learn to work on my own with a lot of my first year classes being in an auditorum style setting. However, the professors do give individual conferences as needed. Some elective classes , that are not in my major ,take up more of my time than classes in my major. I find that frustrating because I want to be more focused in my business classes and spend more time learning that material.

Going to class in bad weather because most of the time to get to class you have to walk across the "drill field" and when it's windy/rainy/snowing the weather is about 10 times worse when walking across the drill field.

The worst thing about my school is sometimes the lack of diversity because although it is diverse it seems as though it could be more diverse.

The worst thing about Virginia Tech is that the dorm rooms do not get wireless internet. One cannot be in the residence hall and on the internet without being connected to an ethernet connection.

The academic couselors, there office hours are rediculous and when you go in for help they act like you are waisting their time. I though that I paid my tuition for their time.

The football ticket lottery because it's so hard for students to win tickets for the games if they can't buy season tickets yet.

People tend to click together. Most people here know someone and join in a group with the people they already know. They do not branch out very often.

There is nothing bad about Virginia Tech so there is no worst thing.

Online classes

Parking. With over 18,000 commuter students , there is nowhere near enough parking for all of us. Sure there are buses but they get crowded and are not time friendly if your running late. Most parking is for faculty and staff. Almost everyday you can find atleast two faculty staff lots that are less than half full, while other students drive around for over 15 minutes to find a spot in or der to make it to class.

The only bad thing I could say about my school is that a lot of times the class doesn't participate when the professor asks questions. Usually, our classes have at least 200 people and that makes students nervous to speak in front of such a large audience.

Probably just the competitiveness that it takes to get into certain things. I am in the Marching Band and it is very competitive to be a part of. My minor is theatre, so the plays and one acts are competitive, and to simply be a part of organizations can sometimes be cut throat. But competition is great, it pushes us to be better. Other than that I can't find anything bad to say!

Lack of downtown activities on weekends. Because it is in the mountains, your are limited to what the town itself has to offer and it could offer more activities.

It tends to rain a lot in Blacksburg, and for most of the school year it is very cold and sometimes snowy; other than the bipolar weather, the campus is absolutely beautiful.
