Good for those looking to take advantage of the free college. There is currently no food on campus because they are renovating the cafeteria but there are plenty of restaurants in the area. The professors are mostly nice but the attendance policy is pretty strict. If you take education classes, be prepared for a lot of observation hours. Another really nice perk is that there are no classes on Friday unless it is a lab. The system they use it pretty easy. Most classes are all online work so taking an online course doesn't change much. They do have a heavier work load than in person classes.

Volunteer State Community College is a great school for first year college students. It offers a real life college scene to get you ready to transfer to another college or just to graduate. It is also really good since it is a community college, it is more budget friendly.

So far, this is my second semester at Vol State and I absolutely love it! The classes are not that large so it's more of a cozy environment. Though I, myself am the few that prefer to stay to my own, the other students I have come across are extremely nice. There is 0 judgement at the campus. The environment overall is just great!

A lot of people talk down on Volunteer State Community College, but these are the same people that don't take advantage of what this great institution has to offer. I have not had a bad day at Volunteer State Community College. Although there are not the same amount of extracurricular activities that may by present at a 4-year university, there are plenty of ways to propel your education and get more involved in the community. It all comes down to one's desire to pursue a great education, and all the tools are present at this institution. I would definitely recommend this school to someone who wants to save large amounts of money, and at the same time, receive an equally as good education.

Volunteer State Community College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Volunteer State Community College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Volunteer State Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I think that now after experiencing the seriousness of college, if i could, i would go back in time and tell myself to focus more in school and work harder to make better grades. I would tell myself that the future is more important than I think it is and push myself to study harder and instead of worrying about the weekends and what party i would be going to next, tell myself to start bringing home books to study for that big test and actually try on my homework rather then jotting down the answers two minutes before the teacher took it up. When i was in high school I wasn't thinking alot about college or the future so i only worried about having fun. But now, I take my schooling more seriously and am working hard to bring up my GPA so that i can earn as many scholaraships as I can.

  4. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I would have known that mainly VSCC is a great way to start your education, but I feel in some ways you are not prepared for what the nest level is going to be if you wish to go past their two year degree. Getting from VSCC to TSU has been challanging in many ways. Once again communication has been hard between my advisor, tsu and getting the information where it needs to be ontime.

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I think the worst thing about my school is that our campus is too small to accommodate the students. When you have to register it is sometimes hard to find the classes you need/want because of the quantity of the students attending. Furthermore, parking can also be difficult due to the fact that so many students attend Volunteer State Community College and parking on the grass is necessary.
