Over the years especially the few years leading up to my freshmen year Voorhees College has been known for it's excellent Freshmen Year Experience Programs (FYEP). Oftentimes when it comes to Undergraduate Instituions, especially HBCUs retention is the main issue. Well here at Voorhees, Dr. Sandra Rouse leads a program renowned for its great ability to boost freshmen students towards a more educationally and overall optimistic mindset for their future. In turn, many freshmen students go on to accomplish great things during their later years in school and overall the school's retention rate has remained positively balanced.

My school is best known for its History and its name in South Carolina. We are an HBCU school, accredited by many others. My school was founded in 1897, by an African American by the name of Elizabeth E. Wright. She had big dreams and stated Voorhess College at the age of 23 yrs old, not much older thean me and my peers today. My school is known for its inspiration, determination, and also faith. I applaued Ms. E. Wright for her most dedication to me and Voorhees College.
