Wabash College Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Jarod

The limitations in courses/majors that one can take. There are no sociology courses/major, sports medicine or kinesiology courses/major, no business courses/major, among other important courses that should probably be offered at the college that aren't.

Kevin

Well, the joke is that since this is an all-male institution, the worse part is no women. Dance parties really arn't quite the same... And since the college is really in a blue-collar small town, there is not a lot of activities outside of campus. But for as small a college as this is, and the fact that there is not a lot outside of campus, there is SO much that can be achieved here academically, athletically, and in clubs that the worst part is finding time for it all. Especially with the high standards in everything.

Josh

The most frustrating thing about Wabash College is that it is impossible to participate in everything. Wabash offers so many activities and things to do, one will always busy doing something.

Jake

I would have to say the hardest thing about my school is the transition between high school and college. In high school I never really needed to work hard to earn the grades I got. At Wabash I have to work hard and study to earn the same kinds of grades. It's much more challenging.

Josh

The fact that every professor acts like you are only taking their class.

Michael

Jonathan

The amount of coursework, papers, research, and reading that is required to complete each course is the most frustrating thing about my school.

Jonathan

For me, I do not enjoy the surrounding town and environmental setting. I need more stimulation, more opportunities for fun engagement with my friends and community. Crawfordsville does not support this. Yes, it has everything you need to survive (Walmart, Kroger, fast food, and a few bars), but you can exhaust all those options in one weekend. This is my only true complaint. The school, as an academic institution is stellar: the administration/faculty listen to the students; it is superbly funded; the facilities are generally good; and the alumni network is outstanding. I have received a top-notch education.

Tim

The most frustrating thing for me is that it is a all male school and all the reading I have to do for each class.

Adam

The town is small and, though it is an excellent institution, it's location allows for a lot of boredom

Kristijonas

I am sometimes frustrated with the students who think that the College values restrain their freedom, and that they are 'cornered' to act in a certain way; as a person with a purely defined set of values, I confront with students who force themselves to act as gentlemen.

Stephen

The difficulty of course load is sometimes overwhelming. Wabash's goal is to prepare their students for the real world by teaching them and giving them the experience now. Also, it is frustrating dealing with critics of Wabash that argue it is not fair to have an all male institute in today's society. Many people that have never experienced Wabash cannot understand why we do somethings and why things are run a certain way.

Matt

Workload

Robert

The most frustrating things is that there are no girls here.

Lucas

It is all male, which can lead to boring weekends though the weekdays are generally to busy to notice the absence.

Mark

The most unique aspect of Wabash College is the fact that it is one of the few all-male schools still in existence. This has its benefits academically but can be stressful socially. During the week, it is really no big deal. We go to class, do our homework and hang out with fraternity brothers. Once the weekend comes around, the lack of females on campus becomes more noticeable. Wabash's reputation of men being unfamiliar with women seems to cause even more frustration when women are actually present.
