Wagner College for myself is very unordinary. Being from a predominately African American background I am surrounded by a lot of White human beings, which I have no issue with. But on my sports team, I feel like I am not getting the best out of it . I also feel like a lot of people at Wagner are underestimated.

Allison - 08/04/2020

Wagner is a beautiful campus where you can receive an outstanding education. The classes challenge you as a student in a positive way, keeping everyone engaged. I know when I graduate I will be fully prepared to enter the workforce and thrive as a nurse.

Mia - 07/02/2020

I had a fantastic experience during my first year living on campus. I appreciated the small classroom sizes because it created an intimate classroom environment and helped me become more engaged and develop close relationships with my peers and professors. Seeing the same familiar faces on campus everyday built a sense of comfort for me while living away from home. The diverse student body exposed me to people from all different backgrounds. At Wagner, I witnessed paths cross from all walks of life that never would have outside of this institution. Being 30 minutes away from New York City allowed me to explore one of the world's greatest cities. The city is full of all types of educational opportunities. There are internships, museums, interactive field trips, and so much more.

I love Wagner. I'm a science major in a primarily arts/sports school, I'm in more "offbeat" clubs, and I feel loved and accepted here at Wagner. Sometimes the food and dorms can be a little lacking, but the professors genuinely care, and everyone makes an effort to be loving and accepting toward people from all different walks of life. It is a warm atmosphere, and very conveniently placed, on the northern tip of Staten Island with easy (free!) access to Manhattan.

  8. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my school is the Financial Aid department. There are so many hard-working, deserving students here, and many of them do not receive the Aid they should because the F.A. dept. is very slow and disorganized. I believe it is very understaffed, with only a handful of counselors working out a couple thousand of students.

  9. Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

Wagner College was the perfect college fit for me because it is in a great location, not exactly in the middle of the craziness that is the city but not too far away from the city either, it has one of the top Theatre programs in the country, it is not a huge school, the teachers know their students by name not as just a number as in the cases of big universities, and Wagner's campus life is fitting to my personality, I have made many friends and feel very safe and comfortably here.

The "Wagner Plan" which consists of Learning Communities. There is one first semester of freshmen year which provides experiential learning in the Staten Island community. There are 3 classes with the same professors and students that connect two diciplines. The LC I took connected theatre and art. My classmates and I painted murals at a women's shelter for our experiential learning. An intermediate learning community is required between the students sophomore and junior year.
