Wake Forest University Top Questions

What's unique about your campus?

Meagan

I think Wake Forest does a pretty good job of acknowledging how difficult it is to know what we want to do with our lives and tries to help us find our passion. We are not allowed to declare our major until we have a certain number of credit hours, usually not until sophomore year, and we are required to fulfill divisionals to explore different departments. There are also lots of extracurricular activities and research opportunities, lots of which involve service, which is strongly emphasized at Wake. There are lots of great professors willing to support you.

Wake Forest truly embodies its motto: "Pro Humanitate," meaning "For Humanity." I have been able to connect with every student I have met because we all share a passion for bettering the world in which we live, and we all understand that doing so starts with compassion and a vehement desire to help others. Wake Forest encourages its students to develop empathy for others through learning about them. Simply by listening to the thoughts and watching the actions of my fellow "Demon Deacons," I am inspired daily in different ways to expand my goals.

The sense of community is definitely what makes me proud to be a Demon Deacon. Every single member of the WFU family is loving, accepting, and supportive. I have yet to meet someone who has anything negative to say about my school and all have been so excited for me. "You're coming to Wake? You are going to love it there, I cannot think of a place I would rather be!" I have heard this statement countless times and I have not even arrived on campus yet!

Jade

The closeness and school spirit. My high school was like this and it was a very easy transition. It felt as if I never left home.

Holly

the best thing about Wake Forest is the fact that it is a small university with the opportunities of a big university. To be a school of approximately 4500 students it is unbelievable. Wake Forest plays in the ACC and division I ball, so there are good sports. The Study Abroad Office pre-approves between 200 and 400 programs a year for students to go on. We have excellent faculty and research opportunities. Yet, it is impossible to cross campus without seeing someone you know and the community feeling is very strong here, thanks to the small size.

Rosalva

The best thing about my school is the size. I grew up in a city with a population of about 5,000 people so I wanted to attend a college that is rather small so that I would feel home to minimize feeling homesick.

Maria

The best thing about Wake Forest is that nearly every student sets their goals high and dreams big. The campus is filled with students who refuse to settle for anything less than the best. Partly because other students are always competing to get better grades and contribute to the community, it makes me a better person. Being around people who thrive on competition and success helps me get better, as well. The student body as a whole is constantly encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone and try new things and adventures.

Shauna

The academic prowess coupled with such strong school spirit and bigtime athletics is hard to find in a small school.

Katherine

The professors are highly qualified and engaged. They really know what they're talking about and are really excited to impart their knowledge to the students. The classes aren't overly big and are rarely completely lecture-based. There are a lot of class discussions in which most students in the class are involved. There are also a wide variety of classes for people with many different interests and majors.

Jennifer

Wake Forest gives students a wonderful opportunity to explore many fields of study before making a choice for a major. The professor - student ratio is smaller in the upper level classes, making education a joy. The smaller campus allows students to be involved in a community atmosphere without being a "number" as in a larger university.

margaret

The student-teacher relationships are an upside. Because the classes are hard it's important that all the professors have office hours and are very approachable for outside help and conversation.

Joshua

The best thing about my school is the sense of community that it provides. It is rare for an institution with such extensive academic opportunities to incorporate a personalable style of education such as the one at Wake Forest. We have a small campus which allows everyone to feel comfortable, and all of our classes are taught by brilliant professors that truly care about their student's educations. Instead of leaving home and feeling out of place, I have been able to travel away from New Hampshire and find my second home at Wake Forest.

Max

The best thing about my school is the balance between time spent with the community and time spent studying. There's just enough work to keep the students busy, even the really bright ones. However, there's never so much classwork that people don't have time for fun. The majority of people I know, if they manage their schedule well, can get great grades and have lots of time for other persuits.

Sara

The small classes, and the great professors.

Bryan

School spirit and dedication to be the best in any and every endeavor.

Aigerim

The knowledgeable professors, small classes, professor's willingess to interact with students on a regular basis, technologically savvy, many research opportunities, opportunities to study abroad, intelligent, active, and motivated student body
