I believe this is one of, if not the, greatest community colleges around! The professors are amazing and very helpful. The food here is amazing and the campus is beautiful. There are always decent sized classes, so there are plenty of opportunities to meet new people all the time!
I really enjoy the school and people and if you need help you can always find it. The teachers are available to speak to about anything even if you have to email them they are always quick to respond. The people are really friendly and will go out of their way to help you.
Very good college at a fantastic price of admission. Many opportunities inside and outside classes. Fellow students are friendly. I haven't had a bad professor here, all are friendly, care about their student's success, and understand their subjects with passion.
It's a really cute little college and I enjoy the proximity of my classes. It has some great little study rooms and the library is really nice. I do wish there was more natural light in the math and behavioral science building. And now the cafe has closed down so you have to go off campus to find food that isn't from a vending machine. The teachers do an excellent job and are always accessible. If you put in the effort, this college can do great things for you.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Walters State Community College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
I would tell myself to go straight to the admission office and enroll in college classes. Please dont put it off and think that you will go to school later because you will not do it. I would tell myself to get good, sound advice from adults " who have been there and done it", especially from the college advisors. A college education would open more doors, opportunites, and advancements in life than a high school diploma would. I would tell myself , by returning to college now late in life, has given me confidence and assurance that I can be anything I want. That there are no hurdles that cannot be jumped if you dedicate yourself . The choices that I had to make in life would have been easier if I had an education at an early age. I would tell myself to do the 3L's. They are Listen, Learn and Live !
Everyone gets along with everyone else. The classmates are awesome and we all work together to move forward to better ourselves.
The nursing program. They graduate in the top 90% of the nation.
Walters State Community College is an excellent choice! Coming straight from Highschool I often worried about college. If I chose to attend a big College campus where you only saw your teachers on a projector screen. I was relieved that Walters State Community College was very small and the class room size was just perfect for me. From my very first day of college I met some great friends and even very wonderful teachers that really care and want you to do well in your classes and to be successful thought your life.
I did not have the foresight to apply to multiple colleges. Unforseen changes in my life made it a difficult process to decide which options were the best to take. My simple advise is "Give yourself options". It is better to spend some money on college applications to schools you may not plan on attending, than it is to wish you had before the deadline has passed. This advise would have been the most useful for me had I received it.
I consider the "best thing" about Walters State to be their accessability. This is the case on many fronts. I am a nontraditional student. I graduated high school in 1985. I am a 43 year old mother of two teenaged children, and recently decided to continue my education. I have been made to feel included and welcomed as a student. The staff go out of their way to assist the students. Many satellite campuses insure that students may achieve their educational goals. In addition, the tuition is affordable for a working mom. My kids might say,"It's all good !".
Anyone could tend this school. It has great programs. It's especially good if you plan to transfer.
There are a couple of frustrating things about Walter State. I know more than half of the people that attend or atleast seen them before. The rules like cell phones and attendence are the same as high school. There isn't the freedom I was expecting.
This school is absolutely phenomenal for beginning students. The offer multiple opportunities with clubs and groups to join in on and its an education that won't break your pockets. I have enjoyed my time at WSCC and will continue to do so until my time is pasted.
I don't have any complaints other than the parking lot. There isn't enough space to park without a long walking distance. When i get to class i can barely breathe.
Students that didn't enjoy high school shouldn't attend Walter State. In my opinion Walter State is just like high school because it's in a small town where everybody knows each other and you are in college with people you have known sense elementary school and grew up going to the same schools. Walter State has the same rules as high school and I don't feel like I have the freedom I should have in college. It's just isn't the college experience I was expecting, so Im transfering in the fall.
Walters state is a great community college all around I would strongly recommend it to everyone.
Walter's State Community College is a small college that has about 2-3,000 attendants that has just what the name states, a community. Remember in kindergarten when it was as easy as asking someone for a crayon in order to make a best friend? WSCC is like that. It's the easiest place to make new friends and enjoy the community that grows here.
My college of choice is considerably near my home, which is quite convenient. Another bonus is it's dedication to the progression of the use of technology. I am enrolled in a couple hybrid classes, along with a video class. This is a convenient, and gas saving option that has made my life easier. The incredibly cheap tuition is one final bonus that makes me grateful to be attending my college of choice.
I have had some of the best professors in the world. My favorite is my current history professor, Mr. Mcghee. He is my inspiration for wanting to become a history teacher. He keeps everyone interested and brings history down to a personal level to make it seem so intriguing.
Like every other school, they have their flaws. The teacher are really great though, and make time for anyone willing to strive for their goals.
The Criminal Justice Classes
Theatre is pretty popular among the artsy/musical people, and really just anyone looking for entertainment. Along with theatre, Choir is made of a large number of students that can be heard singing all over campus. A group I am in is the BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministries), It is full of students daily that are just hungry for a strong relationship with God. It provides an amazing atmosphere that no one can resist.
Classes at WSCC can be challenging, but the classes never exceed, I'd say, 30 students a class room. You are never overwhelmed, but you stay busy. The teachers are also so personable and make time for anyone willing to reach their goals.
The stereotype for students that attend WSCC is that of people that can't really afford to go off to a university. This stereotype is far from the truth. I have encountered many student during my time there that are attending WSCC because they want to get their GPA up before transferring, or they want to start off close to home and then transfer. Many people I have encountered "have money" if you will, but picked an easier path to start on.
