The school has a very friendly enviroment that makes you feel at home. It is located in a quiet serene enviroment that is conduicive for studying. The lecturers are friendly and most of them have an open door policy, making them accessible to students. The school has an honour code that all students adhere to, and is governed by students. This means that students themselves police their own conduct which gives them a sense of fraternity.

Washington and Lee was very conservative and homogenous but with a proud history and a strong academic tradition.

The faculty and students create a small, cohesive environment which stimulates mental growth through healthy competition and the availability of excellent resources.
