What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If i could go back and give myself advice as a high schooler, I would begin by saying that college is definetely an opportunity that can not be missed out on. I would tell myself to work harder in high school to prepare myself for the work load that is given in college. I would also tell my high school self that it helps to take college seriously. It is important to have fun while in college, but it is more important to do well especially since money is being put towards the college education. I would also tell myself that I need to find a way to balance working a job and school work because it is tough but important to stay ahead. Although one cannot go back in time to tell their past selves things that they want to know, I am fortunate to know the things that I do know now.

When I tell my friends about my school I tell them how much fun I have here. Here at Washington College we have access to the Chester River in which we can water ski or enjoy a nice relaxig day out on one of the campus provided boats. I also tell them about the different activites planned by the student event board which offers safe, alcohol free parties and celebrations throughout the year.

The worst thing is that some professors don't care enough about the students. Some think only about the research that they are conducting

Driving back to WAC after break is coming Home. My family is my community, is my professors, is my friends and peers. Walking across campus, there is never an unfamiliar face, never a lack of "hello". This land is beautiful not for the riverside or the great veridian fields (though they are lovely too) but because everywhere I look I can find a smile lighting my path. That is Home to me, that is where I wish to be.

I wish I would have known a little more about the emphasis on english related classes. Now I realized that this was a liberal arts college when i applied, but I wish that it was not so strongly recommended that students take an english class each year. I currently am majoring in biology and chemistry and would have liked to deal a little less with language and literature,

Washington College is a liberal arts school where the teachers care about your success and you are not just another face in the crowd, you are a Washington College student and you will be set up for success in the real world.

The best thing about Washington College is the encouragement they give you to try other classes you might have not had an interest in taking. To graduate from Washington College you had to have taken certain amount of classes in different fields of study like humanities, social science, fine arts, and etc... This really gives you an idea and a chance to experience what you could have your focus of study be on throught out you college career. This system also allows you to have at least some knowledge in different fields of study.

Someone who likes a small and personal atmosphere should attend college here. If you like being able to get one on one help from your professors and actually have the option of getting to know the majority of the students there, this college is for you.

The best thing about this school is that the faculty actually cares about its students, we are not just a number in a crowd. The school is small, but not too small. You get to know new people, and still find new connections on a daily basis. It is perfect to get around to different buildings without a hassle and the school spirit is great. People's reaction to this school is usually a positive one, and they like to visit because of the great view of the Chester River. The most complaints is that the school is in a very small quaint town, so there are not that many restaurants or activities within the city.

Yes and no. The most accurate description I have heard of the student body is that there are two distinct groups, and that would be the Athletic/Greek Life people and the English/Drama squads. That is not to say that there is little diversity on campus. Ridiculous. . I believe in the past few years, Washington College has made tremendous strides to diversify the campus. Students here come from all sorts of backgrounds. We have a huge amount of international students here. Students of various racial and financial backgrounds. There is a little bit of everything for everyone. We have Greek life, Intramural Sports, Student Government Association, service clubs, artistic clubs, and even an Anime club. Don't even get me started about the honor societies (yes, we got Phi Beta Kappa.)
In conclusion, Washington College is a small campus, but we got diversity squared away. It's not just rich students in Vineyard Vines pastels out to party away. People are down-to-earth. Students are here to make the most of their time, in and out of the class room. Don't underestimate Goose Nation.

My favorite class is intro to sociology. It really relates to things going on in our own personal lives and the bigger world around us, putting issues into perspective and makes you really think about the future. Class participation is very common, and usually a decent portion of students' grades. It is important to participate to really understand the topic you are learning. My major is English, and Washington's English Department is excellent. We have the school newspaper, the writing center, a literary and press house, and hands on professors that encourage you. Professors make an effort to spend time outside of class whether it be for academic help, future career advice, or just a casual conversation.

Because of the school's private institution status and rural Eastern Shore setting, people have the idea that the students who go here are preps. They come from high-end families where Mommy and Daddy pay for everything, including that dope SUV sitting in the dorm parking lot. The students dress in Vineyard Vines and Uggs and usually participate in a sport, like lacrosse or baseball. There is little diversity on campus. A majority study hard but party equally on the weekends. There appear to be two distinct student groups on campus: Athletic/Greek life people and the English/Drama people.
