WSU is still seen as a school from the past, and by past I mean when it was rated as one of the top 25 party schools in the nation. This really is not the case any more. I understand that at any University there will be a portion of students there for social activities more than scholastic, but WSU is no more extreme in this case than any other. WSU is known for having exceptional Vet students and Engineering students, and a very close community of students. I still see people I met during my freshmen orientation on a regular basis all over campus and town, regardless of what their major is and where they live in Pullman. I think the stereotype of students from the outside is very different from the inside. I hope this review helps people choose to go here, or stay away from WSU based legitimate reasons and not their perception of the party scene here.
Hoity-Toity, quick to judge, stuck up, it's all about the money, allow proffs to get away with murder, very reliant on the greek system, sports are more important than education or the people that work on campus (students, staff and faculty)
Party School, Bunch of Drunks
I am not sure there are any.
That this is an agricultural based state. ITs a party school
That it is a party school and everyone parties.
Party school Big drinkers
WSU has an issue with being known as a drinking/party school.
That we drink all the time
It's the easy-to-get-into state school and that most of the student body are drunken morons.
its out in the middle of a wheat field there is nothing to do except drink the pullman girls a good looking but not friendly unlike UW the doctors sucks and have no idea what they are doing
That we are a party school and that everyone drinks all the time.
That it is a big party school and the students are stupid
"Everyone who goes here didn't get in to UW" "Party School"
We're all Drunkards
That all Washington State students are not goal oriented and only party thier education away.
It's a big party school, Greeks are assholes who drink too much, etc.
I believe a lot of people think of Washington State as an easy school to get into, one many go to because they did not get into the university of washington. Also Washington State is typically known as a party school.
WSU is the "party school" and anyone who goes to WSU wasn't smart enough to get into UW.
Some stereotypes are that it's a drinking school and everyone drinks all the time. Also that it's a state school and so the education is below satisfactory.
They drink too much, they party a lot, they sleep around, lots of STDs, not very smart, red necks, farm kids
People say that WSU students are a bunch of drunken hicks as well as unintelligent with a lack of diversity.
not very diverse, drinkers, women go there to find their husbands
That everyone who goes here is just a crazy drunk or if you go here you will end up being a crazy drunk.
That we are just here to party. Its a party school because there is nothing to do. Were not that smart and its an easy school to get into.
Many people believe that students at WSU are not intelligent and drink all the time.
The school does nothing but party all the time -- it's the big party school of the state
That we are a party school and that all we do is party and drink and are stupid
that they are all alcoholic drunk's all the time!!!! also that were all stupid
Heavy drinkers, excessive partiers, rowdy.
I think that a lot of people assume that all we do is drink and party and that we aren't an actual school. I've heard people say that the only reason we're at WSU is because we didn't get into UW. I don't know if this is a stereotype or a fact, but we have the most school spirit in pride of any college I've ever visited.
Washington state it viewed as a party school where people party very frequently and in large quantities. The students are viewed as kids who are not very into their education and are here to have a good time and party.
Party school, lots of drinking, lower academics, out in the middle of no where
Everyone loves to drink. Sorority girls are just party animals. It's an easy college to get into.
That we party all the time.
The biggest stereotype that plauges our school and it's students would be that we are solely a drinking school. Now I'm not going to say that we don't drink, because of course we do, but people seem to overlook our academics and how strong of a school we are in that respect.
Party school, hicks and cowboys, drink a lot
It is a misconception that WSU students are all "hicks" or come from rural backgrounds, and are just simply not smart enough to be accepted into a bigger school such as the University of Washington. We have been referred to as a big party school in the past, and this is still a stereotype at WSU.
Washington State is known for being a party school. It really is a party school and its great if you are in to that. People look for excuses to drink. For example, its a thursday night and the Cougs played an away game against UNC in the Sweet Sixteen...we lost....we drink. Or, school gets cancelled because of weather, so you head down to the store around 11 a.m. and you will see hundreds of studetns stocking up on Busch beer, hard liquor, and Carlo Rossi. In pullman, we are all family and there isnt much to do so we look forward to popping open those beers and drinking
First and most obviously, that we drink a lot.
One is that Washington State Students are all alcoholics and party constantly. I have also been told that every student is rude and has no respect for other people. I have also been told that nobody goes to WSU to get an education, they just go to party.
It's a big party school, Pullman is in the middle on nowhere, It's an agriculture school
That we like to party hard and we are trashy fans.
We party hard and are school is not as cool as UW...both very very untrue.
Some stereotypes about WSU students is that they consume massive amounts of alcohol all the time
That we're a party school, that it's easy to get in, and that the students here aren't very smart.
People usually have some bad stereotypes about WSU. They see us as "farmers" that drink everyday. The girls are thought to be full of STDs and guys known for date rape. However, the good about us is that there is tons of pride here.
Some of the stereotypes about WSU are, students that could not get in to the University of Washington come here as second choice, and there is nothing to do here but get annihilated.
The major stereotype about WSU and the students is that we party too much. All I hear from people is that the WSU campus is nothing but a party place and none of the students actually take their schooling seriously, they just want to get drunk and party all day and night.
Some stereotypes about WSU & its students are that we're all a bunch of rebellious, apathetic, drunk partyers who don't care about anything that isn't about to happen.
