What is your overall opinion of this school?

Feddiena

The school is great. The food is pretty good. The students are nice and the faculty is helpful.

Ruth

I love this school. Ever since i was in elementary school and came up to the campus i fell in love and it has really come through with my expectations Washington state. Although there may be some professor that are not my favorite, it would happen at any school. I am very happy with this school.

Mustapha

its located in a small town out of no where fun quite place for study and have fun at the same time all students are willing to help each other Pullman college town the school is big the students always complain about tuition a lot of concerts

Jonathan

This school is awesome for the close community built among the students and the faculty working for the University. Students seem to almost always have a network of connections spread all over the campus. The school size is just right and has integrated very well with the surrounding city of Pullman with a populous of 20,000. I spend most of my time in the Engineering building, where there are students working all day and most of the night. There is a lot of school pride, and even though our football team has not done well the last few years, we are all excited to see what our new head coach brings to the school.

Yixuan

I think our school is like a big family and every student is regard equally. I am an international student here, and I usually get many benefits from many international workshops. Also, here are many free services, like free tutoring, free printing...which make us feel good.

Elizabeth

There is a strong sense of community on campus at Washington State University. There are many on campus activities for freshman and upperclassmen throughout the year. Being a large state school it is easy for individuals to get lost in the mix and to easily feel like a number, rather than a valued, contributing student. WSU has a well known reputation of being a party school and as such the educational qualities of the school are often downplayed and looked down upon. Pullman is definitely a college town, as the majority of its residents attend WSU. Being such a large school it is harder for students to find personal, less generic experiences in the classroom as teachers present to hundreds of students each class. The university's staff and administration are individually all very nice people, but the current economic crisis with funding have painted them as a whole in a negative light. The school's president is a very nice, attentive man who cares about student concerns but as a student it is difficult to constantly hear about department that are being cut or raises in tuition. Nevertheless, school pride runs rampant in Pullman. People are proud to be cougs, despite out less than satisfactory performance in sports, and you will always see people wearing the school colors on campus. There are multiple coffee shops on campus and in downtown to study, my favorite is Zoe's.

Crystal

Washington State University believes that it strives on it's motto "World Class Face To Face" In the four years I have been at Washington State University, I have still yet to see that world class come through. Financial aid believes in delivering a hard time to anyone out of societies norm, asking for rediculous, not available and no such thing papers to straighten out a mess that financial aid mis-interpreted and made a big ordeal out of. The administration is nothing to be dealt with, so if you don't absolutely have to speak to someone higher than a proff (including program offices such as the Chem office for example) don't do it. It's just a waste of time and they don't listen anyway. And the alumni center, stay far far away. They wouldnt want you to make a mess out of their expensive vases and tasteless flowers now (only the vases are made of cardboard or styrofoam) Washington State does however do a fairly well job of snow removal in the winter time and cooling in the summer. Very electricly wasteful though sometimes. I never spent any more time anywhere on campus than I had to. The sororities and fraternities are just like you see in the movies only this greek system doesn't need alcohol and drugs to make themselves look like asses. They do just fine on their own. I have not once seen a sorority girl being anything but rude to someone different, bigger, or less 'refined' than them. All sorority girls hang out with their cookie cutter images. Wait.... just about all of the cookie cutter, balimic, gotta have my Prada bag girls seem to click together. And for the guys, well, they aren't so bad, except they are all meat heads who are drawn to the cookie cutters every move. To be honest, i was scared to be on campus. I was once told (by a reliable source) that 96-99{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of all sorority girls have had, are on meds for or currently have a STD.

Blake

The school claims to be diverse. Racism is worse in Pullman than any otherp place i have lived. Worst of all, the majoriy of whites (dominant group in pullman) beleive the place to be diverse and racism free

Nico

Construction on campus is not well organized for people to still get around campus during construction. Beautiful country and lots of activities in community to do.

Jo

The thing I love most about Wazzu is our pride. Everywhere you look on campus students are wearing crimson and grey. Our athletic teams are performing very well and the games are packed with fans!

kyle

School spirit. In two words, that's wazzu. At any sporting event, thousands of students are screaming their heads off if we're up 20 or down 40. The amount of school spirit here is mind-blowing compared to where I'm from. It is a college town; at first glance, you'll think there's nothing to do. After some research, you can find some places here or over the border in Idaho to do. But for the most part, it's no big city. I spend most of my time exercising on our playfields, rec center, outdoor rec center, track, stadium, etc. There are many facilities open to students, unlike my last university. I don't pay much attention to the political side of college, so I don't know much about the administration. Not being from Washington, I don't fully understand it, but there is something about being a Cougar. A lot of people I know are from Seattle where they could have gone to UW, but there's something about it.

Sarah

WSU is just a good sized university out in the middle of nowhere. About half the students are from the Seattle area, the rest are from all the small farm towns spread out around Washington. It helps people become more familiar with other aspects of our state that they ordinarily wouldn't be interested in.

Megan

The best thing about Washington State is the school pride. Everyone loves being a Coug and once you're a Cougar, you will be for life. There is no town, no malls, no nothing, so the stereotype of being a party school is pretty accurate. When you don't have anything else to do, your social life is based on parties on campus.

Alexander

If you happen to need a degree that UW doesn't offer, or just don't have what it takes to get in somewhere else I pity you, because you'll end up here (I fell into the former category when I first came here). If you're looking to be treated like a slightly older highschool student this is the place for you, good classes are far and few between and for the most part you can pass just by showing up. You tell me if that's a place you want to be.

Jason

alot of school pride, but serioulsy nothing to do there. 4 years of pullman was 4 years to much. If your a city person then your in for a serious culture shock

Christina

The best thing about WSU is the pride that the students, alumni, and fans have for this school and the athletic programs. We could have the worst football or basketball team and we would still have fans cheering in the stands. There is no other school that can compare to the Cougs.

Katie

Washington State is a large university that feels small, you can almost never walk to class without seeing somebody that you know from class, activities, or just from seeing them around. One of my favorite things about WSU is the unbelievable sense of school spirit and togetherness. Even though I now live in Seattle, I still meet Cougs that are excited about thier alma mater.

Hillary

Pullman, WA gives WSU students a real college experience. The town is centered around the college and its students are its most prized possession. The size of WSU is just right and there is a great balance of Greek life, residence hall involvement and from those who live off campus. Cougar pride is unlike anything else. We are all so proud to be cougs, but humble in the sense that we don't have to be cocky about our university; we rise above the rest!

Harper

I love the opportunities that WSU has provided me. For example, joining the Greek Community, becoming a co-chair of the March for Babies. I love the size of the school, I'm constantly meeting new people, yet everywhere I go I see a familiar face. The new President, Elson S. Floyd, has been a great leader so far just this year and has made a noticable impact on campus.

Andy

I think it's just about right, you don't get lost and there's always someone willing to help you with anything from directions to homework to social stuff, just not financial aid.

Jennifer

WSU is possibly one of the best places on Earth. Unlike universities in Seattle the town cares and centers their lives around the school. It's something you can't explain to people who have never experienced this. It's like we are one big team, and every peer is your teammate. There is absolutely nothing around Pullman so when students are stuck here we are stuck here together. It forced us to make friends and become familiar with one another. If I could change one thing about this school it would be nothing besides the reputation we have. The school is just right in size, maybe a little to out in the middle of no where but that definetely has it's benefits. It is very in reach for students to get into contact with their professors and help is readily available. The school spirit here is amazing. I would not trade the feeling I get when I am here for the world.

Courtney

I think my school is the perfect size for me- it's a larger campus but it's still small enough where you can always see people that you know. The great thing is that Undergraduates are not given the 'leftover' classes- they are clearly wanted and their are programs, organizations and professors are always there to help. The campus is beautiful and easy to get anywhere on campus in just a few minutes. The administration is focused on making WSU a better college experience, and are incredibly supportive. If you want an amazing feeling of community, then WSU is a great place for you! Not only are we loyal to our sports teams, it's not just about sports. There is a community here that is hard to define unless you're here.

Sean

Washington State University is a state, land grant university in Pullman, WA. The size is quite large to the point where you have to go out of your way to see friends sometimes, however, I like the size as it means that there is always something to do. I spend most of my time on campus but sometimes take trips downtown or to Moscow to eat if I can find a friend with a car. One thing I really like about WSU is the spirit. What I have found on campus, as well as among alumni, is that, win or lose, we will always support our teams. We take pride in being Cougars in sports but also in life due to the research and opportunities we witness and receive in attending school here.

Chris

Washington State is a Pac-10 research University with tons of departments for our academically diverse student population to choose from. It is located in Pullman, a city built around our large student base of around 16,000 undergraduates and world class vet school. WSU has more school spirit and pride than almost any other campus in the nation. You can go anywhere in the world in cougar gear and hear the friendly chime of "Go Cougs". The Palouse doesn't have the tamest winters, but the gorgeous summers on the snake river make up for it.

Bridget

The best thing about Washington State is the sense of community that surrounds the area. People are so friendly and really make you feel at home here. People truly do care, professors too. The school is fairly large and I'd like to see it decrease in size a little. People's reactions are all different, however I don't care much, it doesn't make me any less proud to be a coug! I spend most of my time at my sorority house but have many homes including the library, the cub when it was open as well as my departments building. WSU is the definition of a college town. I love our administration, especially our President who constantly puts himself in the college community. I've met him a handful of times and he treats everyone like they're an old friend. Our sense of community and small town atmosphere create a huge amount of school spirit and I feel our school truly prides itself in character and integrity.

Heather

It is just the right size and is loacted in a small town which gives it that small town college feel. Pretty mucht he entire town revolves around Washington States Universit. There is a lot of schooll pride and many Almuni travel back for sporting events. Also the pride runs so deep that you can be in another state and if you are wearing something witht he WSU logo they wil come up and talk to you.

Jennifer

The best thing about Washington State are the cougar fans. There is something about being a cougar that brings people from all walks of life together. Cougar pride is definitely a big seller for Washington State. Also, the small town atmosphere really helps give Washington State the college town feel. And it forces students to stay in town and get to know each other instead of commute or hang out in a big city like at other schools. Owen Science library is my home away from home at school. It is the best place to study. It is quiet, close to my home and has all the right amenities. The one thing I would change are the way academic advisors are set up. For one, the advisors sometimes know a lot less than the students and screw up their schedules. And also, I don't think students should be required to go to their advisors before signing up for each semesters classes. I know many colleges who don't enforce this, and gasp...their students still graduate. Students always complain about the weather and understandable so. Washington State is not known for great weather. Sunny days are far and few.

Jennifer

I feel as though this school is a college town, because there isnt much around but college students, and the locals. There is not a lot to do out here on your free time. I feel as though the campus is just right, it's not to small, and its not huge either, i think it is a good size for me. There is defiently a lot of school pride and spirit, especially during football season. Its a time when everyone comes together as one to cheer on the cougs!! Many alumni still come back to watch the games and support their school and team, and that shows a lot. I usually spend most of my time at my sorority house. That is where i do most of my school work and studying.

Chris

I love WSU, it is my home, the people here are my family. I love the campus, but I hate the weather and the location, but those are both things that cannot be changed. I love how everyone is so friendly and it really feels like a home. When I first came to Pullman I was scared of what would happen or how I would adjust. People here are so kind, and I have definitely met some of my new best friends in my dorm hall. WSU is the best school for me.

Mel

The number one thing I'd change about WSU is the location, which obviously is impossible. I like the small town feel of where the school is though, it's definitely a different experience then living near Seattle on the west side.

Alisyn

I feel that the school size is just right, people either make a joke becuase they go to or went to University of Washington or they are really interested about it and want to know more! I spend most of my time either in class, or in my sorority. College town! Pullman, WA its really great! I feel with the new president that the administration is doing well, and is trying to do everything for the best interest of the students. We have the largest school pride i have ever witnesses. You can go around at night and just yell GO COUGS and have everyone around you yell in aggrement! The one experience i will always remember is when i first transfered to wsu i was really unsure if i made the right choice, the next night when my friend came back from break we went to a basketball game, had really good seats, aginst Arizona, and we won in overtime, everyone rushed the court, at that moment i realized that i was ment to be a coug and couldent wait to see what else the school had in store!

alisha

the best thing about WSU is the greek system.. it has made my experience in college so much more fun. the school size is perfect there is just enough people here that its not too small or too large and you feel left out. the college town is what makes being here so good, u always feel involved and its great to know that the whole town supports everything about the school, WSU has so much school pride its great we may be the worst team in our league but we still have our stadiums full whether its basketball or football people also wait hours in advance and tons of people show up and pack the stands. everyone cheers their hearts out and we support our teams till the end.

Robin

Washington State University has a real community feel that I can't imagine getting at any other school. It's in a college town which means people here have a lot to bond over, instead of living at home or commuting. The school spirit is contagious and I feel totally comfortable here. Even at a relatively large university, I always see people I know and have good relationships with fellow students and teachers.

Chelsea

The best thing about WSU is definitely the pride. I love wearing sweatshirts that reference Cougs when I go to other places because you can always find someone who will shout "go cougs!" when they see you. I can't think of anyone who isn't proud to be a part of a state school that people in New York have heard about. As far as size, WSU is PERFECT! Its big enough that I don't know everyone, but small enough to be its own community. We all have our love of Cougs in common. Pullman is mostly made up of college students, but even the citizens of the city are caught up in the school spirit. I think that being a Coug is the most amazing experience. There's nothing better than the sight of crimson on a Cougar football saturday.

Kelsey

Washington State University is an amazing place to experience college because of the comraderie of the students and the small community. You can always expect a smile on the walk to class. The school is small enough that you can get to know your professors and get into classes you need in order to graduate. But at the same time, the school is big enough to have an amazing athletic program and big events. WSU changes something in you and makes you passionate about something larger than yourself. This passion is something that sticks with you and probably will never leave.

Amanda

Pullman is definitely a college town of only 5,000 people. Everywhere you go, you run into college students and its cool that college students have such a big impact and good relationship with the community, especially when it comes to philanthropy, community service, and more.

Bobby

The best thing about Washington State University is that it is in Pullman and it is like our little town away from others and distractions of a big city. If i could change one thing, I would want lots MORE on campus security. I spend most of my time on campus in my dorm, in class, or at other dorms and at my sorority. The thing I love about Washington State University are the die hard fans. There's so much school pride and it doesn't go away once you graduate.

Devin

the school is the perfect size. People think we party too much but the fact of the matter is we are fun and the people that say that aren't. People blow up so much that we party too much and the school is headed down a bad road, but they just don't have any school pride and are haters. It's a great town and I really have enjoyed my time at WSU.

Casey

I would say Washington State University is more of a community than a school. We're small enough that you can get to know a good amount of people, but still large enough to feel like a big college.

Katrina

The best thing about Washington State is the alumni support and the motivation of the students. We have just about every major you can think of, and everyone in town goes to football and basketball games. Everyone loves Washington State, and the Cougar symbol is known internationally. WSU is the best four years of your life, and those years continue as long as you live-Cougar Pride is for a lifetime.

Dan

In my two years here at WSU, I have not heard of any frequent complaints about the school. Our school pride is unsurpassed across the country. On nationwide polls hosted by EA Sports, the CapitalOne Mascot Bowl, Pontiac, WSU has had enough spirit to finish in the top 3 of all of these, earning our basketball team and mascot the titles in these competitions. Pullman itself is the ultimate college town. The closest city that is larger is over an hour and a half away, so we are not quite isolated, but the school is the obvious focal point of the entire community. Cougar pride is seen everywhere in this state, particularly on the western side. Cougar license plates are one of the top-selling specialty plates in the entire nation.

Candice

The amount of student pride is awesome at WSU. I love it. It makes you feel like you are part of a big community because everyone bleeds crimson and is proud to display their feelings and emotions. Sometimes, they do so in a negative way. I think our school is a perfect size. I think we have nearly 24,000 students and its growing every year. They could make the stadium bigger though. WSU-pullman is definitely a college town. You hardly see any adults. No matter where you go you are surrounded by people your age which is awesome. Very easy to meet the opposite sex.

Lance

The size of the school is great, has a great reputation and die hard alumni network. Pretty much anywhere in the state your bound to get a high five or something if you are wearing coug gear. The town sucks however, small and in Eastern Washington, not exactly the cultural epicenter of anywhere.

Cassandra

I think the best thing about WSU is the school pride that everyone has for the teams here. I think that the school size is just right. When I tell people that I go to wsu, they all ask me how often I party and how much I drink. And no matter how many times I tell them i don't, they don't believe me because of the stereotypes. Pullman is a college town, I mean, it's basically made up of students and professors.

Krista

The best thing is that pretty much everything you could ever need you can find somewhere on campus, or nearby. One thing that I would change is the parking. There always seems to be issues with the color-coded parking lots. I agree that there should be parking passes, but not so many different color lots. It can be really confusing to figure out what lots you're allowed to park in. I think the size of the school is pretty good. Everything is pretty much within walking distance. When I tell people I go to Washington State, they usually say "Go Cougs!" or ask me how I like it. About half of the people in my hometown went here also, so I have a lot of support when I go home. I spend most of my time in my dorm room. Pullman is definately a college town. I've been here in the summer before and it seems dead when all the college students are gone I don't really have a strong opinion about the administration. I havn't really had any reason to interact with them. I think the biggest controversy on campus is all of the construction. It seems like it's never going to get done, and it kinda looks like a mess. I think their is a ton of school pride I don't really think theres really anything unusual Living in the dorms is an experience I will always remember. It was a BIG change to go from living in my own room and having my own bathroom at home to sharing a tiny room with another person and a bathroom with at least 30 other girls. I think the most frequent student complaints are about their classes and exams, but not a whole lot can be done about that.

Justin

I think that everybody that goes here is the best thing. We are all Cougs and we all love the Cougs equally making it a very friendly atmosphere. It is just the right size you don't have to worry about walking 20 minutes to class and the class sizes are nice. We are definatly a college town becuase that is all Pullman is, is Wazzu so everything is about Wazzu and it makes for a very friendly town as well. School pride is intense here, if you aren't a Coug you are the enemy and we will certainly let you know it.

Katie

I love WSU I was so unhappy my first semester since it was such a dramatic change from home and being able to drive to Bellevue Square for some retail therapy. After the first year though I grew to enjoy the Palouse mall and always being able to get a parking spot.

annette

The best thing about WSU was some of the people that I met here. I would change the location to Schweitzer. I think the school is just right--you get to meet new people all the time but you also don't have a hard time running into the people you already know. People react like going to WSU is all fun and games. I spend a lot of my time in Wegner because that is where most of my classes are but I also wander around to other buildings (art building, library, architecture building, etc.) WSU is definitely a college town--there is not much else to do. I've liked most of the administration so far--no problems. The biggest controversy was probably the snow day--well maybe that's more of a celebration and something that gets to be put in the history books. There is a ton of school pride. I think the zen wall is pretty unusual--it's a place where you are allowed to graffiti. One experience I will always remember is crashing my car on the way to the snake river. I'm not really aware of any frequent student complaints.

Gene

The college town experience at WSU is like nothing else you experience. It honestly becomes a second home to you. It's a feeling that you can't really understand unless you experience it yourself. You become a Coug for life. I think Cougs may have the most collective pride and school spirit than any other school in the country, and I don't think I'm being biased.

Jeff

There are a lot of dumb people here who come here to party instead of go to college. You will find that everywhere though. The best thing about us is that we are all family and will always love being a coug for the rest of our life. You will never find that at UW. The campus is pretty boring unless you enjoy drinking. The profs are pretty cool. I have seen a few at the bars and they are fun to hang out with and usually will buy you a drink and grade you easier. I have had many classes where they will postpone tests for big school games or even the superbowl.
