I love that Waubonsee has a transfer program into Illinois State University. I made the Dean's List twice. Finished with a 3.50 GPA and received my AA degree in May 2023. Because of the transfer program, I am able to complete my BSN in two years. Additionally, Waubonsee handled the pandemic very well with lots of online classes. The few times I had to go in person, it was mostly for the lab. I always felt safe with the protocols they set in place.
Overall it was a good experience. I had good professors; in terms of them being knowledgeable, helpful, kind, etc. There were also clubs and events that students were able to get involved with which made the college experience more enjoyable. The school was also very cost friendly, and I'm glad I started out here rather than going straight into a 4-year university.
Waubonsee Community college is a really good school to help you start getting adjusted to college courses. The professors are there to help you succeed. When needing more clarification or help with assignments they will take the time to explain and help you with the material one on one. Waubonsee Community College helped me grow as a student and achieve more academically than I ever thought I could.
As an adult student, first generation American, Waubonsee teachers and staff made me feel very welcome, comfortable about my doubts and questions (many, many questions). I went in with a career path in mind, but with need of much guidance as to how to go about my education in order to achieve said career. The teachers and/or tutoring center are of great help when I would start falling behind. The school definitely has made me feel as if they really do care about making my dreams a reality.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would remind myself that it was a great decision to work hard and graduate early, even though it took alot of my time. I would have told myself to take more classes at Waubonsee than I did my first semester because I know now that it was not difficult and I could have challenged myself and been able to get my associates degree earlier. I also would have told myself to apply for more scholarships during high school, because I know now how expensive books are for all of my classes.
Waubonsee Community College is known for their great nursing and automotive programs. I personally think that the Criminal Justice and Psychology Departments are also very well run, I enjoy all those teachers and their classes.
For transfer students, it is important to contact not only the counselors, but the counselors of the transfer school you might plan to attend. I wish I would have known what classes I needed and did not need to take in order to make my transfer as smooth and less tedious as possible.
Probably the price of tuition and the fact that there are so many people available to help you with just about anything.
I do not feel that I can consider anything bad about school. Like in any place there are some ups and downs; when speaking in terms of socializing or talking to other people, I think that sometimes people can be cruel to other people because they're different. But I don't feel that it has anything to do with school. Also when students already form their frienship groups sometimes it can be an obstacle to meet other people because we become so close minded.
My school has many opportunities to major in anything you desire, there are only 4 schools in this area that offers Sign Language Interpretation, the teachers here are all or have been interpreters and help in any and every way.
Waubonsee is a wonderful school because it allows you to discover what you're interested in pursuing academically without having to pay astronomical tuition. There are plenty of night classes, weekend classes, and online classes for people who have busy schedules, and it's easy to go full time or part time. Many of the classes at Waubonsee transfer to four year universities if you're interested in attending one after your Waubonsee education, too.

I brag about our facilities. We have amazing buildings, classrooms, sport complexes. We have nicer facilities than a lot of four year schools. Our campus is also very big for a junior college, we are bigger than a lot of four year schools.
The most frustrating thing about my school is the parking! There are a lot of students trying to enter and leave their classes at the same time. The worst is during the winter when it is freezing outside and we have the bad luck of parking so far away, the walk seems endless.
My classmates are unique individuals who range in age, ethic background, and style.
A person with the money to attend a private four year college.
Depending on the class and the professor, they can be either very difficult and demanding or very easy requiring a minimum amount of work.
They basically act like high school students and I believe this to be true.
