What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Study hard. This is not high school anymore, things will not come as easy as they did in high school. Although there is rarely homework, do whatever practice problems you can find, they help greatly for studying. Get involved more. Go to games, hang out in the lounge, meet new people. Never hide behind a door, always be yourself. Take classes you want to take, but never stray from your degree. It'll pass by fast, so have fun while it lasts. I believe in you, you're going to do great.

There are many tips and tricks to surviving college, but bottom line, spiral notebooks are your best friend. Notebooks are easy to tote around, great for organization, and best of all, they are cheap. When juggling three or more classes, the last thing you need is a poor organizational method. In one notebook you can write down all of the daily class notes, as well as doing the assignments and writing reminders of future assignments, quizzes, and exams. This way you will never lose your homework, and all of your notes will be in chronological order which helps with studying for said quizzes and exams. Keep one notebook per class to avoid mixing of notes and any possible confusion of the material. My second piece of advice is to talk to the people in your classes! Get to know those around you, create study groups, and make friends, because you are all in the same boat trying to successfully make it through the quarter. Having others to talk to and study with helps make your college experience easier and more fun!

If I could go back into time hmm.... I would change a ton of things but the one thing I could change about my idea of college is that it truely isnt as scary as it seems. Dont be afraid to put yourself out there and experience life. I thought I was going to be too dumb for college but in reality I excelled in it. I realized that other people had the same concerns too. College is a really great experience. I wish I could have gone to a University but I am thankful that I am not in debt for going to a community college.

LET IT GO, DO NOT STRESS, HAVE FUN & RELAX!!! As a senior in high school I was a ball of nerves, "Would I do okay in the classes? Did I know enough to succeed? Would I be able to make new friends?". I had so many questions running through my mind at all times. I was panicked and scared about something that I could not control. It was a completely new situation that was going to change my life! I had to succeed and do my best, but I was not sure that I could. Looking back I should have known that my friends, family and teachers had all prepared me for that moment. I was going to do just fine! I needed to stop worrying and embrace the great experience that was going to come. I needed to relax. I wish I would have known that then. I just needed to tell myself to try my hardest and do my best, while still enjoying my time. Everything will turn out the way it is supposed to!

If I were to go back in time and give myself any advice about college life, I would tell myself to make lots of time for studying and work. There may only be a few classes taken at the time, but the work involved is much more stressful and difficult than in high school. At the same time, however, don't be afraid to make friends and have fun. Just be sure you know your limits, and allow yourself plenty of time to get in the books. Pay attention to opportunities, as they will come up before you know it, and you will regret having missed them should you pass them by. This is the advice I would give to myself.
