I've found success at West Los Angeles College! It's fantastic to discover a learning environment that aligns well with my needs and enables me to thrive academically. I have attended other colleges in the past and West Los Angeles College has a sense of COMMUNITY. What I mean is, when you step on campus you get this sense that everyone there is open to seeing you for who you are and they won't put you down for who you are not. I have had wonderful experiences between my fellow classmates as well as my professors. I have always been able to ask questions and never feel like what I was asking was a dumb questions. The environment is overall encouraging. I highly recommend this campus as it has been a life changing place for my studies.

West LA College is a high quality operation. The physical aspects of the campus are outstanding in architecture and quality. The student services are exceptional. They leave no one hanging for answers and provide many different types of support from financial aid assistance to scholastic opportunities and learning in addition to classes. I am pleased with this education beyond what I expected from a community college.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

    If I could go back and talk to myself I tell myself to start searching for scholarships as a freshman because paying for school is hard. I would tell myself to take track and field seriously, so I could get a scholarship because I'm actually good at running. I would say hold off on working and run, not to trade in doing a sport and being in clubs for a job. If I coud go back I would tell myself to live, not to be so shy. To get good grades so I could qualify for all the scholarships out there and not have to pass up the ones that say 3.0 gpa only. I would tell myself the transition isn't hard at all rather smooth actually, and not to worry. I would tell myself to prepare now for college and transferring so when the time comes it'll be a breeze.

  3. What's unique about your campus?

    The best thing at West Los Angeles College is that it's a community in itself. I don't believe that there's one student on campus who feels uncomfortable in their enviroment. There's so much diversity that there's this openess amongst the students; it's very alive and and dominant in a sense and it makes me feel as though I'm at home and surrounded by people who are eager to learn and ready to better themselves and their future through the means of getting an education.

    The staff, they are very helpful and pleasent. The classes they offer for me to transfer are available. The school is clean and the moral is good.

  6. What kind of person should not attend this school?

    The type of person who should not attend West Los Angeles College is a person who is not ready to learn. In order to be in college whether attending a university or even a juinor college like West, one needs to have their mind set and ready to learn at all times. It doesn't matter if a person is merely trying to earn a few class credits or spend two years at West and graduate, college is all about learning and if one keep that perspective in mind than they can succeed in all aspects of their life.

  7. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

    The worst this is the food/eating area. There really isn't one, there is the food truck that comes and the student store. It would be good is there was a cafe' or something.

    The kind of person that should attend this school, should be someone that is not looking to go to a four year college right away. A person that is undecided about what kind of career they want to persue. I attended this college knowing what i wanted to major in but my only obstalce was that i could not be a full-time student only. I also have to work full time and take care of my son. West LA was the best decision for me to go a steady pace that gives me time to manage my life .

  9. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

    West Los Angeles has acquired a new state of the art mathmatics building. As students it is our goal to succeed but we need confidence, and higher math is the first step. It challenges the reasoning power to think mathematically about issues thrown about in print media full of incomplete date, ambiguous graphs and hasty generalizations. My school has set a priority to prepare us confidently in a solid foundation of math.

  10. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

    The most frustrating thing about my school would have to be the cost of books. The pricing is ridculous when it comes to buying different books every semester. My only problem is when the school buys your books back, they only give you less than half of what you paid, and thats only if they buy the books back. It hurts even more when you dont recieve financial aid to pay for your books.
