West Valley College is a wonderful school. It is beautiful, welcoming, and affordable. The students are all pretty friendly and hard working. For a community college they have really special arts programs happening on campus. The most amazing quality of this school by far are the teachers. Every single teacher I had not only wanted to be there but was so dedicated to their students. The teachers who I had a chance to work with at West Valley forever changed my life and gave me a safe place to grow and learn.
West Valley College has great class room sizes for a close knit learning environment. The campus is beautiful and surrounded by nature. West Valley is a great college for those looking to take extra classes in supplement to another university or college, obtain an associates degree, or transfer to another college/university. The school has excellence funding and provides helpful services to the students.
West Valley College is a great school for those who don't know exactly what they want to do after High School and those who don't have enough money to attend a four-year institution right after High School.
The Performing Arts Departments are excellent and it will definitely increase your chance of getting into an excellent four-year institution.
But even though it is technically a two-year institution, plan in a bit more time to finish General Ed and Major requirements.
West valley is a quiet, stretching mountain campus that is integrated with the surrounding landscape. It is definitely a calming academic environment, and the woodsy feel has helped me feel more focused while on campus. The library especially is tucked away in a grove like quad and is silent from all foot traffic. There is a built in coffee shop, which is pretty amazing and decently priced, and the front wall is all windows to let in natural light. There are a plethora of plugs, which is always a must in our modern environment, and the library has a programs where those who need it can get their semesters worth of books for cans of food. They also have reserved books for each class that one can check out. The student center, as well, is modern and always teeming with activities. Whether it is student sponsored concerts, masseuse sessions, or local artisan bazars, there is always something to do. The only criticism I have to make is the communication and advertisement of such activities are scarce, so one has to almost stumble onto the event.
Their Best and strongest majors are business and Criminal Justice. Their Criminal Justice degree Program is by far the best. The AJ program has top teachers with years of real-world experience in law enforcement and criminology that you can ever get in the classroom! So many great speakers every two weeks and hands on experience that you get for free! Best thing taught at WVC. Love my teachers Mrs. Paquier and Tim Morgan!
The campus is nice, really beautiful and with plenty of grass, trees and a stream. Many of the teachers are nice and the school has a very calm atmosphere at all times. A good variety of classes and majors and the pricing is fine. Good facilities and access to these facilities, even during ongoing construction on some areas of the campus. Generally clean and not dirty. Many places for students to meet and hang out, also has food options open for all students.
I love it! The teachers are great, the students are beautiful and friendly. You can find people having fun in the campus center or playing frisbee on the grass in the spring semester. Ultimately, its a beautiful college for it being a community college. Thoroughly loved my experience at West Valley College.
West Valley is a good junior college but has an extremely young crowd fresh out of high school and not serious about school. This takes away from class focus and conversations at deeper levels. Most of the student I have interacted with are focused on partying and doing enough work to just pass the class. I prefer classes at De Anza College where the students are across a wide age range and also serious about their education and advancement. It's a beautiful campus and has great teachers but unfortunately, the students detract from the college.
West Valley is a really great College and is one of the best community colleges around. The campus is beautiful and the instructors are pretty awesome as well. It almost feels like it's the norm to transfer out of there, as it has a pretty high transfer rate which motivates instructors to teach their hearts out and students to work their butts off!
I started West Valley College 2 years before my high school graduation in an amazing program called Middle College. Here, I was allowed to explore the campus, resources, classes, and much more before even becoming an actual college student. West Valley is a beautiful campus filled with amazing teachers who will make you succeed and move you. Great community college choice.
At West Valley, every student is there for a reason, to get an education and succeed in life. Being at West Valley has shown me how hard everyone works to reach their goals, and it's pushed me to focus more on academics and participate in more extracurriculars. Being a community college, we see a lot of diversity on campus, whether its a 60 year-old student coming back for a degree, a foreign exchange student from Argentina, or a 16 year-old student getting both high school and college credits at the same time. Seeing all of these students from different backgrounds and lifestyles all working towards one goal is so motivating, and this is what sets apart West Valley from 4-year universities. There are so many different classes, educational pathways, and teaching techniques that it accommodates for everyones lifestyle whether you only take one class a week or cram in 18 units in one semester. The staff truly care about their students success in and outside of school, and I can gladly call West Valley College my home away from home.
West Valley College is a great stepping stone to start your college career. It is a great location that offers many services online. I had a wonderful experience with staff, counselors, class planning, and costs when I got my AS degree. It can be very confusing to start college and have no idea what classes to take, where rooms are, or what the people are like. West Valley makes this process simply, easy, and with a lot of help along the way.
I took online and on campus classes and was satisfied with both. Online classes are well taught by the professors and questions are answered in a timely manner. On campus classes are good sizes and I always felt comfortable walking around the campus.
It's decent, the classrooms aren't bad but some of them smell a little bad, majority of the professors respond quickly to student emails but there are still those who never contact students or respond too late. The campus looks good, they upgrade buildings and keep technology up to date for the most part. Parking is a hassle but I think that's normal for a community college.
For a community college, you can't really go wrong with West Valley. Every department I've taken a class in or been a part of I've enjoyed, I've yet to have a bad instructor. There's lots to do on campus. I personally love to go to the Campus Center for the cafeteria and to do some homework. They have great tutoring services for any and every subject.
West Valley Community College has amazing professors who care about student transfer success. Lots of extracurriculars to join and easy to make friends there! There is always construction on campus, but that just means there are always brand new resources being built for the students to access.
As of Spring semester of 2019, I cant believe how bad the overall service of this school is! Counselors don't know what TF they are talking about and just simply recommend that you speak with the teacher instead.(complete waste of time, should've just done that) Online website is terrible! It's not user friendly at all, and it has now been 2 weeks into the beginning of the semester and there are still MANY problems with simply signing into CANVAS or MY PORTAL. Such an embarrassment how one cant even check their homework instructions online. What can kind of college is this in Silicon Valley? Where rich people pay their taxes for a non working website. The campus is indeed beautiful, so thank the Landscapers not the Staff.
