The freedom to be able to study and do my classwork when ever I have to time to get it scheduled in.

We have mentors who call every week or two to check in on the students and make sure that they arent having any difficulities. If they are having problems, the mentor works with the student to fix the problem before it becomes an insurmountable issue. My mentor helped me stay on track, gave me advice when I thought I was drowning, and was an amazing support person. I think that every school should have one of these.

The best thing about my school is they’ve really nailed the online student experience. I've taken online courses before at other colleges and there were many pitfalls and outdated methods. WGU uses a competency-based learning model; I can use my real life experience to accelerate through my program of study. As long as I show competence through assessment, I don’t waste time earning credits in a subject I already have knowledge. Also, students and faculty use many tools to keep close contact; I will never feel alone and getting help is a click or call away.

I consider the best thing about attending WGU is how focused my counselor is for pushing me (without worrying me) about staying on top of my education. She always makes sure to contact me at least once a week to make sure I am personally doing great, and to answer any questions I have about my school work. I believe this is making me stay on track to my graduation and truly think it is the best thing about attending here.

I love how it is a flexible school that really makes you learn and also the fact that there are many mentors that support each step you take. I also love that you can advance as fast or as slow as you want.

The best thing about my school is that it is all done online. Attending an online Universtity allows you the freedom to do your work on your own time. Yes you must set aside a strict schedule and stick to it, but it allows you the ability to continue with everything else you have going on in your life. I am a mother of three, so this program allows me to better my career for us all and not miss any time with them.

I think that's a blessing because the academia is built for people who have lives outside of school but want more out of their life. Western Governors University (WGU)is not like a typical University. You have terms each lasting 6 months and you take as many classes as you can finish in that time. If you finish all your classes you can add another class provided you have enough time to finish it in your term. This means you work at your own pace.
