WKU is a great school! The staff and faculty are very helpful and open to talk outside of class. Majority of the students really support and get along with one another, and the community itself is very accepting and friendly as well. There is pretty much always something going on on campus for different organizations, whether it is grocery BINGO, intellectual forums, or a Thursday night party in Nite Class. There are also a lot of different organizations of which to become a member. Everyone is sure to fit in to something! And while there is not much to do in Bowling Green itself, we were only about 45 minutes from Nashville and an hour and a half from Louisville, KY.

I love Western Kentucky with all my heart. However, I do find that it is very expensive and I am not able to do everything I would like. I cannot attend in the fall and join a sorority. The community bathrooms are not the cleanest either. They do have options for healthy food on campus too, which I find very beneficial. The gym on campus is very nice and is used by a lot of students.

Western Kentucky is a very flexible school, from summer online and on-campus courses, to summer start programs, it has everything to meet people's needs. So far I've taken two online courses and have been accepted to the summer start program, and I have had a pleasant experience through it all. On tours, I've been welcomed and treated like I was already a full-time student. The staff and fellow students are courteous and very embracing of new peers.

It is a very safe campus with lots of opportunities. Some of my classes have been large (50-70 people) but most are around 30 or under. On game days there are always people out tailgating and even when there isn’t a game you can usually find some people out playing football or soccer on the lawn.

I think Western is an overall amazing school that provides its students with a plethora of resources for success. The atmosphere on campus is inviting and fun. Anyone who steps foot on our campus can tell that us hilltoppers are a dedicated. The school is well maintained, they provide us with so much, and the teachers here care about your success.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

To put it simply, WKU is a party school and degree mill. It's sufficient for getting people through with a degree, but it's so large and with such a party focus among many students that sometimes it is easy to feel lost in the crowd, like you're just a number. If you simply want to get your degree and move on, then WKU may be a good fit for you, but if you want smaller classes where you can feel more involved, this is probably not the school for you. Additionally, the parking situation can be infuriating. Students pay a high price for residential parking that is not necessarily anywhere close to their residence hall, and still may not be able to find parking in said parking lots. Personally, I do feel like Western's nursing program is preparing me well for my career (I don't have much knowledge on the quality of other majors), but there are aspects of attending this school that I am ready to be finished with.

I applied to Western Kentucky University, to be a student in the award-winning architectural science department. My first year was spent enjoying the opportunities that college presented including, new friends, new living arrangements, and also an overload of fresh knowledge. Since I'm originally from Nashville, Tennessee, WKU has been my home away from home. To be close enough to come home, and far enough to get away. The University itself has undergone many changes in the last two years and with it, I changed as well. My major in architectural sciences didn't fulfill my yearning to make art and that's when I found a camera. It wasn't short after that I changed my major to photojournalism and I've been climbing the industry ladder ever since. If it wasn't for the nationally ranked photojournalism program, I wouldn't be as successful as I am today. WKU has made it very easy for me to change my path and ultimately saved my life. Looking back, I only came to Bowling Green to build houses but now, I'm photographing things that matter and recording history for the world to see. Thank you WKU.

This is a very socially open college, lots of groups and activities to do. Very safe and the professors are always available, some will even get on Skype if you need to speak to them. WKU also cares a lot about mental health and you can speak to a therapist for free (They even have a dog).

When I first began my college search, nothing in particular had drawn me to Western Kentucky University. Then I visited the campus and absolutely fell in love with it. Classes began in the August of my freshman year and I was immediately blown away by every professor's willingness to help a floundering student, by the ever-accommodating facilities that allow me to do my homework at two in the morning, and by the overwhelmingly kind and welcoming student population whom are always ready to answer that terrified freshman's questions and to build friendships. The activities on campus are endless; I am personally a part of an on campus ministry known as CRU, where I have met countless lifelong friends and really grown as a person. As the next semester approaches, I hope to join an intermural basketball or volleyball team, as I participated in those sports in high school. There's practically a club or organization for everyone who steps on campus, and every day I am reminded that I am exactly where I am supposed to be, oh home sweet home to me in Kentucky.

I am a proud Hilltopper, and I feel that WKU is a very nice school/campus. It has a highly praised reputation that it doesn't always live up to, and some of my own personal experiences have biased my opinion, but overall it is a very good place to pursue a college education.
