I wish I would have known what it was like being away from my friends and family for the first time. It was hard adjusting being on my own. Being on the basketball team helped. I wish I had a better idea about eating more healthy before I got to college. Putting on weight was an issue for me at first. I have since adjusted with a better diet and food choices.
Anyone coming to Western should know that no one is joking when they say it gets cold. We compete with Alaskan cities for coldest temp. Also Gunnison is a small town with very little entertainment provided; you have to come up with your own fun. Great for outdoors kinds of people or even just those who like the small town environment. (Also for guys: this is a male heavy school the females are sparse and the pool is limited.)
I wish I had known how little interest there is on school activates and how little school spirit there is.
I did my research, so I knew what to expect.
