If you make and keep enemies--don't come. You'll be bumping into those people more than you (or they) want unless you contrieve your class schedule to avoid when they might be on campus. Don't come if you want big city attractions--Bellingham is only 67,000 people.
I think that EVERYONE should attend school. As a former high school drop out I can honestly say after working 9-5 minimum wage no benefit jobs that having an education is key in todays society. The community college that I am attending has been the foundation of my educational experience. The staff and facultly have been wonderful and supportive, which helped motivate me to finish and transfer to a university.
