Wichita State University Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Tony

I find the most frustrating thing about my school is the lack of clear speaking schools that WSU has. Most of engineering professors are Indian, in all respect, they are wonderful teachers; but they are very hard to understand with their accents and makes it much difficult for me to learn.

holly

many classes tend to be offered at the same time as other classes you need. depending on semester, not much classes to choose from that are off campus. Depending on major, most classes if not all are on campus instead of being able to be done online or on other campuses

Christopher

Perhaps it is sometimes difficult to find enough scholarships and the majourity of them seem to be given out based primarily on ACT scores. I understand this, however it seems many of the people who attain these scholarships don't take school seriously.

Shelby

I would have to say that the most frustrating thing about Wichita State would be that somtimes you have a really long way that you have to walk to get from class to class. When you think about it, almost every college is going to require walking. Sometimes I will be almost running to my next class so i'm not late. Other than that, I have absolutely nothing that frustrates me about my school.

Jaqueline

There are a lot of people and the campus is pretty big.. sometimes it is hard to make friends.

Lauren

The most frustrating thing about my school is it's location. It takes a lot of gas to get me to and from college; gas is expensive.

MyTrinh

Not having enough time for outside of school activities.

Christopher

Parking space. It is nice that Freshman are allowed to have their vehicles as many colleges don't allow that. However, it does contribute to an already challenging parking situation.

Brittany

The most frustrating things at Wichita State University is enrolling and understanding the Financial Aid process. This semester will be my first without having a major scholarship to help me pay for my classes. So, I am trying to find out how to take out a loan or look for others ways to fund my schooling. This is very frustrating for me since I have never dealt with this sitaution before.

JoAnna

Not enough scholarships offered.

Eric

I transferred from Boise State University and the whole process has not been incredibly intuitive. Graphic Design studio courses are only offered once per year instead of per semester making it impossible to work ahead.

Camille

The most frustrating thing about Wichita State is the parking. There are quite a few parking lots on campus, but with the amount of students that attend the school, it can be very difficult to find a parking spot at certain times during the school days. It would be nice if the school expanded a bit and added more parking lots, but this seems unlikely since the school sits in the center of a large city.

Cassy

This can be answered in one word; PARKING!!!

Maggie

Well, I would have to say the most frustrating thing about my school is that I went into the music program my first semester, and they don't have the music program that I am interested in. I am looking into communications now, but overall my experience with the advising thus far hasn't been very good. I am taking a career class now to try to figure out what I want to do, but I wish I had a better idea and more help along the way.

Phillip

The most frustrating thing about Wichita State University is the overload of parking. They're are too many cars parked at Wichita State and not enough parking spaces. To make matters a little worse, Wichita State decided to create a sports facility over some parking spaces. That eliminated more parking spaces for students to use. There is no bus transportation system for the students who do not live on campus. Its just frustrating to have to waste gas on waiting for other students to leave their parking spaces, and the administration are not really dealing with the growing situation.

Melvin

That the lession plans are cramped togather, and you have to learn them in short period of time .

Phebie

Sometimes, where they place school funding.

Rachael

Some of the classes that I have to take are in different buildings, and some of the buildings are quite a ways from each other. It is hard getting from one class to the other without being late but I am capable of doing it.

Jessie

You have to take raising junior exams for the business program even if you were a transfer student. They also require you to take an orientation class when you transfer in, so you have to pay for the class and learn everything you already learned at your last college.

Rachelle

The most frustrating thing about my school is the fact that the plus/minus system is used. Because of this system, many students grade point averges are not as high as they would be without it. When the school changed to this new system, the GPA needed to keep scholarships was not changed. Students have a harder time keeping their scholarships because a minus on their transcript lowers their GPA significantly. In my opinion, the changing to this new system should have reflected apon scholarship requirements.

Donna

The most frustrating thing about my school would be lack of information circulating around campus. Most of the time, if you get information on a non-athletic performance then you are part of the college that belongs to. Things such as plays and performances don't have as much publicity as athletics so it can be hard to find out those dates.

Jennifer

The most frustrating thing about my school is the lack of athletics. We do not have a strong athletic program and therefore the social activities are limited.

Luther

The most frustrating thing about my school is that there's not a football team and there's not as much to do on campus as there would be at a larger more traditional school.

Amanda

The website frustrates me the most. They are constantly "under construction" meaning you can't enter the site. This means I can't check my email or grades. Also, sometimes the site itself is working but it freezes often causing a lot of irritation.

Justin

Theres nothing frustrating about my school.

Kelley

The most frustrating thing about Wichita State is the parking. There will never be enough parking for all the students, faculty and staff, that need to be on campus. The students call it "parking lot stalking". This is where you follow someone who looks like they're walking to their car, and turn your blinker on to indicate you want that space. This is not done out of laziness, but is done because there are no other available parking spots in the lot.

Courtney

The most frustrating thing about my schoool is that its hard for me to afford school and pay my bills. The school work does not stress me as much as my money situation. I want to be able to graduate and use my education in my future, but it is extremeley hard to do so when I have no money to pay for school.

Alexander

Parking. At a college where most people commute to school instead of walk, you'd think parking would be a much better addressed issue. Heck, even the faculty parking lots are overflowing. If you time it right, and with a little bit of luck, you might be able to score a spot within a few minutes of your first class, but its not uncommon to end up parking across campus. It's a good size campus too, and having to walk from one end to another can take up to 15 minutes.

Russel

The parking situation is somewhat awkward but for the most part everyone can find a space somewhere on campus.

Cameron

I really cant think of too many, if any frustrating things about the school. Maybe the traffic is a bit crazy around campus.

Brittany

The sidewalks hold water, and when it rains the water just stands there. There is no good drainage. The best word of advice is do not wear jeans on rainy days.
