Willamette University Top Questions

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Torry

That we do to much. Almost every WU student does too much whether it is clubs, community service or school. We love to be involved in a lot of different things.

Alicia

The stereotype I described is fairly accurate except for the fact that it is a college campus and there are a lot of diverse interests that are not represented in this stereotype, or any stereotype.

Alex

Willamette has a wide range of students, some fall under this stereotype, but many do not. Willamette draws people from all walks of life and offers many unique and diverse niches. There are many athletes, musicians, artists, scientists, liberals, independents, conservatives, etc. that come together to create a cohesive community.

Not really, everyone at our school has a unique identity and is recognized as being unique. There is a lot of environmentalist-type activity from the student body and faculty alike, but that doesn't mean we're all hippies

I would say the majority like 90{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of students are more liberal so that stereotype seams to be reinforced. We surprisingly have quite a bit of jocks to even out with the hipsters so No that is not accurate. And when it comes to the stereotype that most of WU is white I would say yes--when I walk around campus I rarely see anyone who's not a TIUA that is non white.

Margo

Mine is. If you are a thinker who wants to make a difference in the world, Willamette is your place.

Ryan

Again, there's no blanket stereotype for a Willamette student.
