It's really annoying when people assume that Williams students are all really stuck up and elitist. Paul

Many people think we have a lot of nerds and that we don't know how to party. Some people also think of Williams as a very liberal school.

Taylor

They study a lot...They all have dreadlocks and are very earthy and very liberal. They are stuck-up and wealthy. Everyone does everything.

Blake

Williams has a reputation for being a party school among the other colleges in NESCACS, so many people stereotype Williams students as avid partiers. On the opposite spectrum of stereotypes of Williams students is the idea that most do not emerge from the depths of libraries until the official closing time. Williams obviously has a very rigorous academic curriculum, which leads many people to have preconceived notions of students here as bookworms and nerds. Finally, there is definitely an established image of Williams girls as, well, unattractive and plain. Williams goggles have become a regular part of most boys' vocabulary in describing the lack of "hot" girls on campus.

Jeremy

There are probably two major stereotypes about Williams: One is that there is some huge divide between athletes and non-athletes, that some kids here only got in because they happen to be a good athlete and not because they're at the same academic level of those students who don't play a sport. The other stereotype is that because Williamstown is so isolated, there's nothing to do while you're on campus.
