I believe that Woodbury is a decent school. It is very inclusive with support for people from all ethnic groups, sexual orientations, etc. It is a fairly small school, allowing for close interactions among peers and faculty. I feel that I can communicate properly with my professors because of the small class size, as it allows them to focus more attention on their students as individuals. I like that there are lectures happening every week from outside guests as it allows exposure for students to learn knowledge and information from outside professional sources. Despite being a small school, campus life is still active and is a great way to get to know others outside of your major.

I like the education and opportunities I am getting, however, for being a private school that costs a lot of money, there is little to no social life or events on campus. The food is also horrible with no flavor, and they have a dorm building that has no AC, and with the California heatwaves it was over 100 degrees in my dorm at the beginning of my freshman year, to the point where I couldn't sleep. I know they receive lots of money so I would love to see that go back into making the school and dorms better. So, while I am receiving an amazing education and will without a doubt have a job after graduating, I have to deal with having 3 friends and nothing to do on the weekends.

as much as I like the small classrooms. The teachers never really help or even reach out.

Woodbury University is actually a great school. I love that the class sizes don't exceed 20 students which makes the classroom environment a better place to learn and be able to communicate personally with the professor during class. The Professors have their usual office hours but will meet with students during any available time. Since I only just finished my first year- I haven't had the experience to get to know many Professors, but I have had both bad and good ones. Overall, I would say Woodbury is a great school and there are many things that can improve or change also my only concern is that it is too expensive, but what can you expect from a private school.

Woodbury University FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Woodbury University?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Woodbury University is 66%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Focus on your family because your focus defines your interests to both the people closest and furthest from you - the grades and eventual job will come soon enough. As far as the school work goes... DO NOT be afraid to explore different possibilities and solutions to problems. Understand that school is a stepping stone, not an "end all mean all" finale to life (sometimes that is hard to see, but the more it is understood the better the overall quality of school will be). Heed these words me of the past!

  3. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I would have known that the school has many places where the students can go to either log into a computer or anything else to help with their school work.

  4. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my school is the layout. The parking is at the opposite end of the architecture school, which is where most of my classes are located. The parking near the architecture buildings is very small, which makes no sense because the majority of the students that are always on campus, are the architecture students.

  5. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

I attend the smaller campus of Woodbury located in San Diego. Due to this the campus is small, thus the student population is lower than the main campus located in Burbank. The best part about a small college community is that you get to know almost everyone. Thus creating connections with one another and having a higher chance of finding someone capable of helping you out if you're stuck on a problem.

I have visited other schools of architecture and so far the studio culture that I have experienced in Woodbury University has not come close to the others.
