I love it! Great faculty and fellow students, opportunities, and facets to the school abound. I enjoy the environment, it is very laid back, and easy to find like-minded people. The academics are really great, too! The curriculum is challenging but exciting, quick-paced yet bearable.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell myself to work hard at everything, and make sure that i understood that i am on my own and i am responsible for what choices i make and the results i get. I would tell myself to choose good, reliable friends and never give up on anything or give in to anyone. I would tell myself to stick with it through the end even when it seems to hard because the reward will be more than a degree when i am through; it will be a gate to a life that has been earned. That's what i would tell myself.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Like I said before this is my first time going to yavapai college. Many complaints I have heard from other students and have experienced myself. They do not help as far as financial-aid goes, it's not that you won't get approved but they take either too long to review your finances, or they don't tell you about other information before it's to late to enrole. I do not have much experience in trying to get financial-aid being my first time going to college, but I thought they would be on top of that situation.

  6. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

The main positive aspect that I tell my friends about Yavapai College is basically the same as the above. The smaller campus means you aren't just another body in a seat like in some larger colleges. It is easier to get help directly from the instructor, who actually knows your name.

  8. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school is that it's size and the more personal and laid-back atmosphere that comes with it. Instead of a math class with 350 people that you may find at a large university, class sizes are smaller and thus allow for a more personal relationship with the instructor as well as the rest of the students in the class.

This school is not diverse enough for people who come from big cities with many different kinds of people. It will take some time to get used to the lack of diversity which would make it very hard to get along with people.

If you play sports this is the better community college for you. It is very sports oriented and does not do much of anything else except sporting events.

  11. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about my school is that we do not have free access to the workout gym or pool for excersie. We have to take a class for them or we have to pay a semester fee for them. I think that the people who live in the dorms should be able to have access to these rooms for health progress. Schools around the world are trying to find ways to make there students life healthy. This for sure is one way to help students health.

  12. Describe your favorite campus traditions.

My school is probably best known for its sports teams. They have won several championships with the volleyball, soccer, baseball and softball teams. The players on those teams are hardworking and dedicated to both their academics and their sport. Most of the baseball players end up getting drafted to major university teams. This allows for a sports player to get a great education at a reasonable price and then be funneled to a university where a scholarship is available for them because of them doing so well at Yavapai College in their sport.
