By Stacy CrossUnigo Campus Rep at Ohio StateO-H…I-O…!!! If you’re an Ohio State Buckeye fan or a dreaded Michigan fan, you’re probably a little too familiar with the infamous O-H, I-O chant. But what else does a fabulous college of over 50,000 students have to offer? Plenty. If you’re looking to join a jujitsu club, participate in “dance till you drop”, disc golf, scuba diving or yoga, Ohio State has well over 50 club sports available to any of its students. By contacting a president of any of these clubs, it’s easy to join and meet new people, while staying active on campus. As if it couldn’t get any better, if there’s a club that you would like to start, it’s easy as “1, 2, 3.” By going to the Ohio State recreational sports Web page, anyone wanting to get a new club started can easily do so. Get in contact with the rec manager and they will work with you to get your club formed! Although Ohio State has many amazing sports teams, if you don’t have enough time or dedication there’s always intramural sports available. You’re welcome to join the lacrosse club team or even the intramural basketball team. Some of the less traditional teams include innertube water polo, table tennis or badminton. To see all the other intramural sports team available, visit the recsports site. If you don’t have time to join a sports team, club or intramural team there’s always other ways to get involved with the Ohio State atmosphere of sports. During Homecoming week there’s blood drives, pillow fight and rock, paper, scissors tournaments. “Beat Michigan” which has begun starting Nov. 17 has a variety of events to attend to get prepared for our biggest rivalry in college football. The biggest student turnout during “Beat Michigan” week is during the anticipated Mirror Lake extravaganza. Notorious for being held during the coldest night — if not snowing — thousands make their way to the Mirror Lake pond to jump in the Thursday before the OSU vs. Michigan game to help resurge another victory by the Buckeyes. I the jump is not for you, there are always other events available to find on the Ohio State Web site!
