Head Back to College with Pinterest!

Posted byUnigo Staff May 4, 2015November 15, 2022

By CampusDiscovery

Back to College Shopping I love this time of year; everyone is getting ready to go back to college and there are great sales everywhere. In the past, I would have waited for the Sunday paper or spent hours jumping from website to website trying to find the best deals. But all that has changed, thanks to the wonderful world of Pinterest. I admit that I originally jumped onboard to check out the great shoes and tempting recipes, but I soon found that Pinterest has a lot more to offer. In fact, it has become my number one resource for everything college. Every day, I am amazed at the creativity that flourishes on Pinterest. If a need a meal idea or inspiration for decorating my dorm room, it never lets me down. So, before you head out to finish your back-to-school shopping, be sure to check out these amazing boards.

1. College Fashionista

Want to get familiar with the latest trends on campus this year? Head over to Pinterest! Some of my favorites include: ‘College Fashionista,’ ‘College Girl Fashion,’ and for those who like to dream, ‘Broke College Student Fashion Wish List.’ You can find an adorable shift dress for less than $25 or learn how to take a plain t-shirt and give it some pizzazz, simply by checking out these fun boards.

Easy College Food 2. What’s for Dinner?

It’s no secret, trying to cook on a college student’s budget can be a challenge. I personally detest Ramen noodles, so finding new recipes that are cheap and easy to make is a must. I used to sift through the online foodie websites, but most of the dishes on those sites require a full-sized kitchen and skills I don’t possess. Then, Pinterest came along and saved my stomach! There are tons of easy recipes just waiting to be discovered. If you have the munchies, be sure to check out ‘Easy College Food,’ ‘College Girl, College Food,’ and ‘College Food.’

 3. Dorm Ideas

For me, one of the biggest expenses for college was decorating my dorm room; it’s easy to go overboard and buy everything that’s listed on those recommended college shopping lists. After my freshman year, I soon discovered that many of these items simply weren’t needed. Also, space is limited in most dorm rooms, so finding creative ways to contain everything is always fun. This is where Pinterest lends a helping hand. You would be amazed at some of the ways students have decorated their dorms and created not only a great space, but ways to keep everything organized, too. For fabulous ideas that won’t leave you broke, head over to ‘Dormify,’ USA Today’s ‘Creative Dorm Rooms,’ and ‘Dorm Ideas.’

One of the best things about Pinterest is that you can ‘repin’ the posts that interest you. I have boards for dorm decorating ideas, organization, quick meals, and even scholarships. This makes it easy for me to store posts for future use and reference. It has also taught me how to reuse many items I would have thrown out in the past. For example, I never would have dreamed that old pizza boxes could become fabulous wall art, or my old flip flops could be adorable wall planters. For college students, Pinterest is a dream come true!
