Now that the fall semester is behind us, it’s time to look ahead and get ready for the spring semester. For underclassmen, that means thinking about classes for next year and trying to finish the school year off on the right note. For seniors, well…you are pretty much in the midst of crunch time right about now. Those college acceptance letters have started to trickle in, along with the realization that you’re going to have to pay for your college tuition in just a few months. No worries. There is still plenty of time (and scholarships) available to get everything in place. But, don’t think that you’re off the hook if you’re not heading off to college this fall. There’s no time like the present to start working on those applications and building a hefty little scholarship nest egg for the future. Whether you’re a freshman or a senior, this list of 10 spring scholarships is the perfect place to start!

dream scholarshipI Have a Dream Scholarship

What do you dream about? Whether they’re serious, funny, or even a bit scary, your dreams could earn you $1,500 for college. Deadline: January 31.

ProjectED Fun and Games Contest

This fun video contest is open to all high school students. One winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and each finalist (3) will receive $200. Deadline: February 2.

H&R Block Budget Challenge

A total of 132 students will each receive a $20,000 scholarship through this program. One grand prize winner will walk away with a cool $100,000 prize! Deadline: February 6.

Drive2Life Contest

Tired of bumping into people who are texting on their phones? Create a 30-second PSA and you could win $1,000 for college, as well as a trip to New York City. Three runners-up will each receive $500. Deadline: February 10.

Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest

If writing essays isn’t your thing, try your luck with this creative contest. One student will win a $10,000 scholarship and $1,000 for his/her school. Deadline: February 18.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? Share it for a chance to win a $1,500 scholarship. Deadline: February 28.

Hays C. Kirby Memorial Scholarship

This essay contest is open to students in grades 7 through 12. A total of three scholarships will be awarded, ranging in value from $1,000 to $5,000 each. Deadline: March 1.

National High School Essay Contest

This winner of this essay contest not only receives a $2,500 scholarship, but also a trip to Washington, D.C. and tuition paid for a “Semester at Sea.” Deadline: March 15.

National High School Poetry Contest

You could be 20 lines or less away from winning $100 or more for college. A total of nine (9) prizes are available (up to $500 each), and you may win more than one award. Deadline: March 31.
