August Scholarships August is always filled with a flurry of excitement, as we try to squeeze out every last drop of summer fun before saying farewell to sleeping in late and hanging out with our friends. Over the next few weeks, students everywhere will begin the process of going back to school; college students will be heading to campuses, while high school students will start shopping for new clothes and supplies. It’s easy to forget about your college planning tasks with all the excitement of back-to-school preparations, but you should still pencil out some time in your busy calendar to apply for scholarships. Whether you’re a traditional student or an adult learner, make sure these August scholarships are on your to-do list!

1. President Ronald Reagan Scholarship

The California Federation of Republican Women offers one $2,000 scholarship to a registered, female Republican who is a U.S. citizen and resides in California. The applicant must also attend a California college and major in political science, communications, or in a field directed toward law. To be eligible, the applicant must be a junior or senior in college. Deadline: August 15, 2012.

2. FTF Teen Travel Writing Scholarship

Have you ever taken a trip with your family or school that didn’t go exactly as planned? Well, now you can use that experience for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship. If you are attending a school in the U.S., Canada, or an American school abroad (grades 8-12), you are eligible to apply. Deadline: August 16, 2012.

Halloween Scholarship 3. Wholesale Halloween Costumes Scholarship

Any U.S. or international student who is a college sophomore or older may apply to this creative writing contest. Applicants must also have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. One winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship for college. Deadline: August 19, 2012.

4. ASFA Second Chance Scholarship

The American Fire Sprinkler Association is offering three (3) $1,000 scholarships. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and currently enrolled (or enrolled by 2013) in college to apply. In order to enter the contest, all applicants must read the ‘Fire Sprinkler Essay’ about automatic fire sprinklers located on the AFSA website and complete a 10-question multiple choice test about the essay. Deadline: August 22, 2012.

5. Laws of Life Contest

Graduating high school seniors (U.S. or international), who are planning to attend a U.S. college, are eligible to apply for this program. Applicants must submit an essay or a video describing their envisioned purpose in life. A total of six scholarships will be awarded, varying in value from $1,000 to $5,000. Deadline: August 31, 2012.

6. Free Textbooks for Freshmen Scholarship

Chegg is offering four (4) incoming college freshmen a year of free textbooks (valued at $1,000). Only students who will be entering their freshman year of college this fall (2012) are eligible to apply. Deadline: August 31, 2012.

7. ‘I Don’t Want to Pay for College’ Scholarship

Any high school or college student may apply for this $1,000 Cappex scholarship. Simply complete the application for a chance to win! Deadline: August 31, 2012.

Easy Scholarship 8. Make Me Laugh Scholarship

Have you ever had anything funny or embarrassing happen to you? Share it with ScholarshipExperts for a chance to win a $1,000 college scholarship. Any U.S. student 13 years or older is eligible to apply. Deadline: August 31, 2012.
