Try March scholarships! If you haven’t noticed, there are a slew of free scholarships with application deadlines in March, which is great news for you. More opportunities mean more chances to win. To get you started, I’ve put together a list of 16 scholarships currently accepting applications. Whether you are 16 or 60, there are bound to be scholarships here for you! 1. Young Naturalist Award Forty-eight cash awards, ranging in value from $50 to $2,500, are offered through this science contest. Students in grades 7 through 12 are eligible to compete. Deadline to Apply: March 1. 2. NIAF Category 1 Scholarship The National Italian American Foundation provides several scholarships each year to high school seniors of Italian American descent. Awards range in value from $2,000 to $12,000 each. Deadline to Apply: March 1. 3. Replace My Contacts Academic Scholarship No contacts or glasses are required to apply for this scholarship. Any college freshman, sophomore, or junior may enter for a chance to win this $1,000 award. Deadline to Apply: March 1. 4. National Presbyterian College Scholarship Approximately 30 scholarships, valued between $250 and $1,500 each, are available through this program. High school seniors who are members of the Presbyterian Church (USA) are eligible to apply. Deadline to Apply: March 1. 5. LIFE Lessons Essay Contest The Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education awards up to 50 scholarships annually, valued between $2,000 and $15,000 each, to students who have lost a parent or a guardian. Deadline to Apply: March 3. 6. Frame My Future Scholarship Contest High school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students may apply for this photo contest. A total of five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Deadline to Apply: March 5. 7. Frownies Make a Student Smile Scholarship One $1,000 scholarship is available through this creative essay contest. High school seniors and current undergraduate students are encouraged to apply. Deadline to Apply: March 7. 8. Toyota Teen Driver Video Challenge Discovery Education, Inc., and Toyota jointly sponsor this video challenge for high school students. Three scholarships, valued between $7,500 and $15,000 each, are available. Deadline to Apply: March 13. 9. Kohl’s Kids Who Care Program Each year, Kohl’s awards over 200 scholarships to students between the ages of 6 and 18. Students must have community service hours within the past 12 months and reside in a state with a Kohl’s store. Deadline to Apply: March 14. 10. disABLEDperson Scholarship Competition Full-time undergraduate and graduate students with recognized physical or mental disabilities may be eligible to receive this $1,000 scholarship. Deadline to Apply: March 15. 11. 2014 National High School Essay Contest The American Foreign Service Association provides one $2,500 scholarship and a full “Semester at Sea” annually through this essay contest. Any U.S. high school student may apply. Deadline to Apply: March 15. 12. Shane Co. College Scholarship High school seniors and undergraduate students with an interest in a career in fashion or the retail industry may complete for three scholarships valued between $2,000 and $5,000 each. Deadline to Apply: March 15. 13. Doodle 4 Google Scholarship Each year, Google hosts a contest that encourages students in grades K through 12 to create a unique version of the company’s logo. Students must incorporate elements from the current year’s theme. A total of five scholarships, four at $5,000 and one at $30,000, are available. Deadline to Apply: March 20. 14. ‘Advice to Your High School Self’ Scholarship CampusDiscovery.com is offering one $5,000 scholarship to a current college student or recent graduate (2012 through 2014). Each applicant must simply complete a short survey about his or her college experience and submit an essay offering advice to a younger version of himself or herself. Deadline to Apply: March 31. 15. Superpower Scholarship Any U.S. legal resident, 13 years or older, may apply for this $2,500 scholarship. Students must submit a short, creative answer (in 250 words or less) describing which superhero or villain they would switch places with for a day and why. Deadline to Apply: March 31. 16. $10,000 +U Scholarship Students may not be familiar with +U yet, but it’s definitely worth checking out. The company is not only helping students find the right colleges, but it’s also helping them pay for college by offering FIVE $10,000 scholarships to students who are 15 years of age or older.
