Ohio State University With college football underway there has been a lot of buzz surrounding Ohio State University.  The Buckeyes are currently the top rated NCAAFootball team in the nation according to ESPN.  Leading the pack with a 6-0 record isn’t the only reason why Ohio State University could be a good college for you.  Below, we have added a few things about the Buckeyes that you may want to consider when deciding on colleges to apply to. Size: What a lot of people talk about is OSU’s size. But for those who choose Ohio State, “big school” translates to depth, diversity, and opportunity. Ohio State University offers over 170 majors and 700 student organizations.  Their  main campus is located in Ohio’s largest city, Columbus, home to thriving company headquarters, great restaurants and entertainment, and many miles of bike paths.  Public vs. Private: Ohio State is a top 25 public university and a top 10 research school—students get to take advantage of excellent faculty and a vast array of résumé-boosting research opportunities, study abroad programs, and internships/co-ops. What to Expect: Since they’re big, they pay a lot of attention to helping students make a successful transition to college. Their First Year Experience (FYE) program, voted one of the nation’s best, provides a friendly, personal welcome to students new to the Buckeye community. FYE programs and events help students connect to each other and take advantage of all Ohio State offers. Famous Alumni:
  • Roy Lichtenstein – Artist; a founding father of Pop Art
  • Michael Redd – NBA guard for the Milwaukee Bucks
  • Patricia Heaton – Actress “Everybody Loves Raymond”
  • R. L. Stein – Children’s author “Goosebumps”
Paying for College: It’s true, the best way to a satisfying and fulfilled life is through the knowledge and experience that starts with an education.  When deciding whether Ohio State University might be a good option for you, you should consider the financial fit and ask “How am I going to pay for college?”   It is important to do your research and get financial aid information from the college(s) you are applying to, as the costs and criteria for aid vary from school to school.  If you have already submitted your FAFSA for federal financial aid, then you should also start looking for scholarships to pay for college.  We have included some links below to aid you in your scholarship search: Finding Scholarships on the Internet Search for Scholarships, but don’t get SCAMMED!
