Spring Scholarships for High School Seniors

This is it. You’re heading into the final stretch of your high school career. In a few short months, you’ll no longer be a kid trapped by the confines of the secondary school system. College awaits, but with freedom comes great financial responsibility. Hopefully, you’ve been working on scholarship applications to help meet some of your college expenses. If not, don’t worry. You are not alone. Many of your classmates have been putting off applying for all that free college cash, too. Thankfully, you are in the midst of prime scholarship season, so there are many opportunities waiting for you. Just grab your laptop and start applying, before these scholarships pass you by!

1. Burger King Scholars Award

You don’t have to be employed at Burger King to apply for this generous scholarship program. If you are a high school senior, work an average of 15 hours a week, and have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher, you could be eligible for up to $25,000. Deadline: January 10.

2. Dell Scholars Program

The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation provides 300 scholarships, valued at $20,000 each, for high school seniors who demonstrate financial need.  You must have a GPA of 2.4 or higher to apply. Deadline: January 15.

HSF Scholarship3. Hispanic Scholarship Fund

If you are a Latino or Hispanic high school senior, don’t miss the numerous scholarship opportunities offered through the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. The value of each award varies, ranging from $1,000 to $15,000 each. Most applications close between January 20 and February 28, so apply soon!

4. Legacy Award Scholarship

Each year, the Elks National Foundation awards 250 scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, to the children and grandchildren of living Elk members. Deadline: January 31.

5. ‘I Have a Dream’ Scholarship

Have you ever had a strange or funny dream? Do you sit in class and daydream about your future? Share your dreams and you could possibly win $1,500 for college. Deadline: January 31.

6. American Atheists Student Activist Scholarship

If you have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and you are an atheist, you could be eligible to win up to $2,000 for school. A total of three scholarships are available. Deadline: February 1.

7. Jackie Robinson Scholarship

The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides several scholarships each year to deserving minority students. To be eligible, you must have a history of volunteer service, and an SAT score (reading and math) of 1000 or higher, or an ACT score of 22 or higher. Awards are valued at up to $6,000 each and are renewable. Deadline: February 15.

8. GreenPal Scholarship

Do you plan to major in business? Do you have a GPA of 3.0 or higher? If so, you could be eligible to receive a $2,000 scholarship from GreenPal. Deadline: February 28.

Sweet and Simple9. Sweet & Simple Scholarship

Are you tired of those boring essays prompts? Check out this fun scholarship. Submit a short essay about a gift you received and why you loved it. Just be sure to keep it sweet and simple. Deadline: February 28.

10. Toyota Teen Driver Video Challenge

Discovery Education is offering three scholarships to help promote safe driving among teenagers. The top prize is a $15,000 award. You can work alone or in a group with up to three other students. Deadline: March 13.

11. Kohl’s Kids Who Care Program

Each year, Kohl’s awards hundreds of scholarships (valued between $1,000 and $10,000 each) to students who give back to their communities. If you reside in a state that has a Kohl’s store and have volunteered over the last 12 months, be sure to check out this program. Deadline: March 15.

12. Minnie Pearl Scholarship Program

Hearing Bridges offers a $4,000 (paid over four years) scholarship to a high school senior who has significant bilateral hearing loss. You must be mainstreamed and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Deadline: March 15.

13. Project Yellow Light

If writing essays isn’t your thing, you might want to check out this video competition. Simply create a video that persuades others to alter their driving habits and you could win one of six awards. The top prize is a $5,000 scholarship. Deadline: March 17.

Superpower Scholarship14. Superpower Scholarship

Would you rather be a superhero or a super villain? Choose wisely; your answer could be worth $2,500. Deadline: March 31.

15. All About Education
